If you do not care about retaining the message archive, and are really only interested in preserving the membership list, there is a free or one-time $20 alternative.? Section 10(a) of the FAQ:
10. What are my alternatives to paying for the Premium Yearly plan? (a) Moving members yourself:describes several options, but says there is a 1,000 member limit for exporting the membership list from Yahoo. With 6,000+ members, you are over that limit. However, if you follow the links, you will see that an owner/moderator can circumvent the 1,000 member limit by using the program PG Offline 4 to download the full membership list. With a one-month $20 membership, you could then do a Direct Add of all your members to your basic Groups.io group, and would not have to get in the endlessly growing queue of groups waiting for the Transfer Agent.? Or with a free group, you could send out 6,000+ invitations to your members to join Groups.io.? The Direct Add seems like the best choice to me if you have the skills to get the membership list into the proper file format.? Here are the relevant links: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-Yahoo-Groups /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Direct-Add-From-Yahoo /g/GroupManagersForum/message/13972 You will have to install PG Offline 4 and figure it out, but it's not hard.? There are videos to assist.? Basically you provide it your Yahoo username and password, use the List button to fetch a list of your groups, then Select the group that you own to add to the list of groups that PG Offline will manage.? Then highlight your group in the left pane, and select Get Members For Current Group from the Group menu.? Wait a bit while it does it, then select Export Members For Current Group and save it as a CSV file that you can import and manipulate in a spreadsheet program to prepare for use with Direct Add or Invite. It's a bit of a chore if you're not comfortable with these things, but it obviates the need to be in the Transfer Agent queue.? Again, this would be useful if you do not want the message, file or photo archives transferred.? PG Offline 4 has the ability to download messages, files and photos as well, but there's no way to get the saved messages loaded into Groups.io. Mark |
