Messages not going through

I am owner of a group that I created from scratch rather than by importing. ?I have successfully posted by email to my group in the past couple of months. ?This morning I sent, from my email (the same email that I use for ), two messages to my group. ?It has been a while and neither message has come to my inbox, and neither message appears on the group page in my browser. So I have to assume no one else who is a member of my group is receiving it either. ?Is there a delay in messages posting? ?Is something wrong? ?

Help in migration from Yahoo Groups
Fausto Passariello
Dear All, dear Mark,
I'm trying to migrate from Yahoo Groups to Groups.io. I started with a free account on groups.io and I'm using the Lena ioimport.pl perl script to add the Yahoo message archives to several groups. The procedure works fine and like forwarding messages to the group, though the system requires a rate less than 40 messages per 30 minutes. Applying the delay of 50 seconds, theoretically admittable, the system stops frequently with a "500 message error", claiming that the rate is greater than?40 messages per 30 minutes, while really it is not. For small groups this annoying message can be tolerated. However, I have a group with more than 13800 messages and the message becomes always and always more frequent. Waiting then for almost half a hour, it appears again after a few messages. I tried to increase the deleay till 70 seconds, but the issue represents again. As using 70 seconds the procedure will last at minimum 11 days, I ask: - 1 - is it possible for the support service to disable the 500 message error to make possible the transfer or at least to increase the allowed transfer rate ? - 2 - if I upgrade to the Premium profile and ask for a transfer made by Groups.io - - - - a)?will the procedure require the same time or will it be quicker ? - - - -?b) will I receive an invoice, in order to comply with tax laws in my country ? Thanks Best regards? --

Re: GIO changes from Mark
Samuel, PGO-2-GIO is using HTTP. Note that both HTTP and SMTP have the unfortunate effect of making every post appear as it came from one individual. Larry

To my mind, "forward" in this context means that an existing message is added to the IO group using SMTP or a similar service.? "upload" means that the messages are added as files, usually via an upload dialog in the browser or possibly via the API, and "import" means that the content is added to the group in such a way that they are stored in a different format. Okay, I'm sure there are holes in these definitions (for example, when the IO developers add messages to a group's actual archive by converting MBOX files, I could call that "importing", but mortals can't do that). > Using those definitions, the messages are uploaded. It is my understanding that both PG Offline's new tool and Lena's method use SMTP to "upload" the messages.? Hence my label "forwarding".? The messages end up in the IO group's message archive, and currently the only way to upload messages into that message archive is by sending it as an actual e-mail (I'm not sure about the new API). I'm not dissing the PG Offline tool or Lena's script.? One advantage of using such an approach would be to ensure that added messages are grouped together properly into "topics", as they are called on IO groups.? Messages that were added to groups via the Easy Transfer method do not get sorted into topics even if they have identical subject lines and were posted shortly after each other.? I'm sure this can still be fixed by the IO groups developers. == In another post I mentioned redirection as an alternative to forwarding, but I got to a point where IO groups started doing odd things to my mails and could not figure out why.? Redirection retains the original poster as the actual original sender, and it retains both threading and the original posting date in mail programs (although that is only relevant for people who download the message archives). Re: Anyone else's group down?
Mark posted that there were DNS server problems, which have now been fixed.? It may take some time for the fix to populate throughout the internet.

Re: Anyone else's group down?
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI had this a short time ago, but trying again 10 minutes later everything was back to normal. I think there must be quite a lot of traffic for the servers to cope with, possibly from the migration of a number of Rootsweb mailing lists after Rootsweb announced a few days ago they were closing down mailing lists from 2nd March. Jeff ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Rachel via Groups.Io ? I keep getting this error -- and have tried to send through messages that aren't coming through -- when the group does come back up. This site can¡¯t be reachedgroups.XXXX.com?¡¯s server IP address could not be found. ?
