Re: Member Mad that she got Unsubbed
Check the Activity log for the group.? It will say if she was removed for marking a message as spam.? Unfortunately, it may not have been done actively.? There are some email services that use a 'faulty' spam filter that puts things in the spam folder that it shouldn't.? Then, if the member doesn't notice and mark it as not spam, when the service automatically deletes it after awhile, it gets reported to Groups.io who removes the member.? This is required so that the site doesn't get a bad reputation causing the email service to block all emails from here.? It didn't happen on YG because they ignored the reports.
I don't believe there's anything in the Wiki here about it, but there are a lot of posts about it. Duane -- Help: /static/help GMF's Wiki: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Search button at the top of Messages list |
Member Mad that she got Unsubbed
~mary~
A member, who is a co-owner of a Yahoogroup that was transferred to IO, is mad that she got a notice that she wasn't a member anymore.? She said she did not mark it as spam.? She went so far as to say "Yahoo never did this to me."? !!??
Is there another reason this can happen?? Can you point me to the Wiki where this is explained and I'll share with her?? Thanks...? mary

Possible 'situation'
A situation has come up in an offlist conversation.? Apparently, some folks/groups are concerned about group seniority when transferring from YG.? If that's a concern for you, you should use a secondary or disposable email address to create the new group so that your original join date will get transferred, along with your other information, when the group is transferred.

Re: New member trying to transfer large group from YG to GroupIO
This group of users is probably as close as you'll find.? There have been quite a few threads about moving recently, so you may find that your situation has already been covered.? If there's a bug or serious problem, you can contact [email protected], but for operational questions, Mark refers people to this group or Group_Help.

Re: disappearing groups??
Are you by any chance logged in on a second account?? Are there still groups showing and/or the Manage My Subscriptions, or is it totally blank?

disappearing groups??
I noticed just now that at least four of the groups that I'm a part of no longer show up under "your groups". ?One is the beta group, and three are others are with a cancer support organization. ?Another moderator tells me that I'm still listed as being part of all three of those groups with full privileges. ?Any ideas what's going on?

Re: Mass update of moderation status
#moderation
My reasoning for making the change is to be consistent.
(a) I don't have any users purposefully moderated (b) I like the consistency of just approving messages and letting users get un-moderated instead of manually removing moderation That said, I'm not going to touch all of the members.? I should have said that originally.? My comment was meant that should I need to make changes, I would have to touch a lot of members. Ideally, I'd like to see the ability to (a) filter users by moderation type, and (b) select all users from a filtered list to make changes instead of only those I can see on the screen at that time.? An alternative to (b) would be an option to display all users on the screen at one time (filtered or not) David Simmons |

Re: Can a calendar event be set to repeat on first Wednesday of every month.
Yes it can be done easily, but it's not really intuitive (until you've used it a few times. ;>)? Click on the first Wednesday of a month, fill in the first 2 boxes (Event, Date and Time), on the 3rd box (Repeats) set it to Monthly, then set Repeat Every to 1, and select 'Repeat by day of the week'.? Once you've made your selections, there will be a Repeat Summary at the bottom of the Repeats box where you can make sure it will do what you want.

However, in my recent testing I've discovered that in some cases, the pending subscription notice is not sent until after the member confirms. So I know that in these cases, when the member has responded to the pending member notice (and therefore has received it), and NOTHING shows in the email delivery history, that NEITHER the confirmation email nor the pending subscription notice is - I'm trying not to say logged because yes, yes, I know it's not a log - neither is considered an email delivery or recorded on the page as such. Re: Tracking Pending Member and Welcome Messages
J,
I currently have two pending members, neither of which shows any emailOne problem may be that the fields in the Email Delivery History are not what I'd call a log - they show at most the one most recent result. I suspect that just about any activity by that email address, even in other groups, might supersede the "most recent" perhaps leaving it blank. The other issue is one of delay: success is not recorded promptly. The example Duane & I cited was blank initially, but showed up in something less than 24 hours. I'm not sure how much less because I wasn't looking frequently. And Lily's observation implies the delay could be much longer. ... debating what to do about it - ... contact Mark? etc.I'm not sure exactly what to suggest if you contact him. But it really feels like moderators need some way of reliably obtaining some indication of the message's status. Maybe the Email Delivery History needs a section for "pending" deliveries - those that haven't yet succeeded or failed. Because some email services do routinely defer the first delivery attempt, forcing the sender to retry ("greylisting"). I know that one of them received the pending memberCases like that can't be explained by delay. And it seems unlikely that so many are cases of the history being superseded by other activity. So, quite apart from any actual delivery issues there may be, maybe there is an problem with how the Email Delivery History information gets updated.
