However, in my recent testing I've discovered that in some cases, the pending subscription notice is not sent until after the member confirms. So I know that in these cases, when the member has responded to the pending member notice (and therefore has received it), and NOTHING shows in the email delivery history, that NEITHER the confirmation email nor the pending subscription notice is - I'm trying not to say logged because yes, yes, I know it's not a log - neither is considered an email delivery or recorded on the page as such. I think the need for either a textbox or a web-questionnaire is *extremely* pressing. ?Given the problematic conditions around the pending subscription notice that have existed ever since its inception. Re: Tracking Pending Member and Welcome Messages
J,
I currently have two pending members, neither of which shows any emailOne problem may be that the fields in the Email Delivery History are not what I'd call a log - they show at most the one most recent result. I suspect that just about any activity by that email address, even in other groups, might supersede the "most recent" perhaps leaving it blank. The other issue is one of delay: success is not recorded promptly. The example Duane & I cited was blank initially, but showed up in something less than 24 hours. I'm not sure how much less because I wasn't looking frequently. And Lily's observation implies the delay could be much longer. ... debating what to do about it - ... contact Mark? etc.I'm not sure exactly what to suggest if you contact him. But it really feels like moderators need some way of reliably obtaining some indication of the message's status. Maybe the Email Delivery History needs a section for "pending" deliveries - those that haven't yet succeeded or failed. Because some email services do routinely defer the first delivery attempt, forcing the sender to retry ("greylisting"). I know that one of them received the pending memberCases like that can't be explained by delay. And it seems unlikely that so many are cases of the history being superseded by other activity. So, quite apart from any actual delivery issues there may be, maybe there is an problem with how the Email Delivery History information gets updated. Re: How do I download an image into an album on my groups.io ?
Ellen,
Do you mean the page that Duane sent is the "wiki" page?Yes, Duane sent you a link to one of GMF's Wiki pages. What is the wiki page?It is a feature of Groups.io groups which Yahoo Groups do not have. If you visit GMF's pages, you'll see a button for "Wiki" down at the bottom of the left-column list. Its icon is a book. The Wiki feature contains a collection web pages which can be written by the members of the group (if that is allowed by the group's settings). Editing a wiki page uses an interface that is very similar to editing a message. GMF uses its Wiki to contain a collection of pages with reference and advice information about using Groups.io's features and about managing Groups.io groups. The name "wiki", if you're curious, comes from Hawaiian, where "wiki wiki" means "quick". So wiki pages are "quick" pages - pages that are quick and easy to create and to update. Testing the Easy Transfer Process
Edward Keech
I want to conduct a test of the transfer process from my 7-person Yahoo group to??before recommending an actual transfer of both this group and a larger one to the Board. Will the Yahoo Group continue to function normally on Yahoo after I make the transfer? |

Re: Using Apple Mail receives return -- Cannot Send Mail; the recipient "[email protected]" was rejected by the server.
Collette,
When she tries to send from Apple Mail (maybe from her iPhone) sheI don't know Apple Mail, but there ought to be more to the error message than this. In particular, there should be a three-digit error number followed by a text description of why the message was rejected. That information might clear this up. I'll ask her if her Apple ID is different than her GMAIL although IIndeed, what Groups.io reported would be different, it would specify that the sender is not a member of the group. But how their response is packaged and presented by Apple Mail is something I'm not familiar with. Possibly the more detailed message is in the box, or available through it somehow. Can I post in the "beta" group?Sure, it is the official "suggestion box", open to all. You have to join the group to post, but membership is not restricted. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

Re: Photo album deletion
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBruce, ? I thought about that idea too, but it raised a question to me. Does Out of Space mean out of space for all pictures (Photo Albums and Attachments) or just attachments? If it means just attachments how many would make it out of space? ? Don ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of Bruce Bowman ? On Wed, Mar 7, 2018 at 09:46 am, Mebefebe wrote:
The only idea I can come up with is to intentionally upload a file that puts you over your disk quota, thereby forcing the system to delete the old attachments. See Admin->Settings->Message Formatting->Out of Space |

Re: Customizing invitations
Sara,
On invitations you can only customize part of the message body, the rest is boilerplate you cannot change. I use the Horizontal line button in the advanced formatting toolbar to make my part stand out: Salutation, Custom message by me with as much detail as seems appropriate to the group or individual being invited. Closing, Signature That way the include part reads like a complete stand-alone message. This doesn't help the folks who need an entirely non-English invitation though. Re: Mass update of moderation status
#moderation
David,
Ack, ok. That's over 2,000 members I have to update...I wouldn't bother. My reasoning is that these are members who had the moderation override in the Yahoo Group. Which means they either (a) were purposefully on moderation due to prior behavior, or (b) were still on moderation after joining, having not yet posted (enough) to earn being unmoderated. Those of type (a) you don't want to accidentally unmoderate. Those of type (b) weren't active posters before, and likely won't be now. So whether they are Moderated (M), or New Member Moderated (NuM), scarcely matters. I'd just leave them as they are until they post (if they ever do). At that time you can decide whether to remove the moderation override. And since this will (likely) be an infrequent event you can take the time to look for prior postings from them, as a check for (a). Re: Moving files to photos
That's what I was afraid of. As a co-owner of the group, I'm already 'owner' of photos in both the photos and file sections that had been originally uploaded by members who have left the group for one reason or another before the transfer. Those are the ones I really wanted to move without downloading and uploading. Oh well.

Mike,
So now I'm waiting for Group 1 to finish before I move group 2, butI think you're interpreting it correctly. It doesn't seem to me that the forms support two active transfers into the same target group. Re: Re-occuring events in Calendar
Paul,
I have an event that occurs on the last Wednesday of every month. IHeh. Including every 5th. But it means it - doesn't occur in months with only four Wednesdays. Is that in any way useful? Seems like an odd thing to do. Is there a way to do this?Apparently not. It got mentioned tangentially in beta, but it could probably benefit by being made a topic of its own (with a more descriptive subject line as well). Re: Profile Image Size

I would suggest that on the beta group. I agree with the suggestion. My group members often use pictures of themselves with their cats, or just of their cats, and you can barely see them!
