J,
Not sure why this is addressed to me.Fair point. It is really addressed to anyone interested in the topic. Mark investigated everything he possibly could and was unable toI'm saying that if the message appears in the pending member's Email Delivery History one needn't bother Mark - you know what happened to the notice, one way or the other. The only thing you don't know is why the would-be member can't find it. And that is unknowable, even by Mark, without the ability to inspect the server logs of the would-be member's email service (or his/her mind). So in this case I know that the Pending Subscription notification was delivered, and so could confidently tell the would-be member to look in their Spam, Trash, or wherever. Re: Double replies
Sarah,
I just set a new group and noticed when I reply to a post it sends itThat looks somewhat like your group's Reply To option is set to "Group and Sender". It is in the Message Policies section of your group's Settings page. The other possibility is that your Gmail account's Default reply behavior is set to "Reply All". That is on the General tab of Gmail settings. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
Re: Was my invitation accepted?
Al,
I've completed steps 0-2 of the Yahoo transfer 3 days ago.Including using the green Start New Transfer button and the filling in the form? That's the backup in case the invitation isn't received. I haven't seen any new member from groups.io attempt to join my YahooIn my recent transfer of some groups the transfer agent joined the groups relatively promptly, within hours or a day. But the procedure has changed (again) since then - when I didn't one didn't send an invite, just filled in the form. Was my invitation received ...?Note that GMF is a user-to-user group - none of us have that kind of inside information. You'll know when the new member appears. If you have your Y!Group set to send you notices of new members that will help. The good news is that Mark has been working down the backlog, my most recent transfers took between three and five days. When an invitation is accepted they become members, you won't see any "attempt" (pending member request).? ?So... check your member list, it might have already been accepted... and you can proceed with the rest of the transfer steps :)

At last report, the waiting list was about a week due to the large number of transfers requested recently.

Al Rovner
I'm new at this, sorry to bug the whole group. I submitted an invitation per the instructions to transfer a Yahoo group and have not heard anything back or seen any new members from groups.io. This was 3 days ago. Does it take this long or am I missing something?
Specifically I asked for the wvdxc group to be transferred from Yahoo to groups.io. Thanks for any help or pointers, Al Rovner |

Have you looked at files in other groups? I can make you a mod or owner at shalstest to see if the files there look different. Yesterday I created a test group and uploaded a small file - still only saw the pencil and the scissors and no trash can or flag. Topic threads gone
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi, ? in the first days after starting the transferred new group all messages with the same topic fell into a thread, and on the side a little circle with a number showed how many messages were sent about the same topic. ? Today I noticed the topic threads are gone, and messages show up one by one as they did in Ygs. ? As far as I know I didn?t change any settings. Does anyone have an idea how this can be reinstalled? ? Victoria |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýIt doesn¡¯t matter which email you use if you¡¯re logged into because yes, it will read that cookie. You could log out first and try it. I¡¯m not sure I understood your second steps in any case. That said, whatever the general problem consists of, it is not reproducible and happens at seemingly random times. So trying to test the ways you did will generally be useless anyway. Been there, done that. On Mar 1, 2018, at 11:03 AM, Tony Moody <aim@...> wrote:

Re: New Member message when joining a group
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýTo test the Pending Subscription process?
I made and tested a new address; joiner@mydomain. 'walked-in' to my home page and pressed
the Subscribe button. which woke up my emailer, showing a fresh email addressed to (can't
remember now) but Subject and Body blank. Ensured that I was the 'joiner' persona and Sent
the email. Nothing. No email received as owner, no email received as the joiner, nothing found
anywhere logical or intuitive in the Groups? just gone.
Today I went to the home page of my site, no email, but presented with a form? and tried to
subscribe as joiner@mydomain and it said I was already subscribed. Huh? But joiner is not a
member.? So ? Reading cookies or something??? Changed the email address on the form to join
@? and 'it' has accepted that? and sent two emails.
I suspect
there is some sort of problem with the database matching the domain part of of the
newsubscriber email address with existing members email addresses. maybe!
So what happened to poor Joiner?? There is absolutely nothing to show the attempt.??
I'll do this again carefully and take notes soon as I can. There is thunder rumbling and I'm
shutting down .
OK,
Tony

I do have the links Jim referenced below each message in the digest.? But at the very bottom of the Digest I have only a link to the Group address with reference to unsubscribing, and it appears below (not above) the blue Groups.io banner. There no word "Home" to indicate that this is the Group Home links.? I read my gmail messages in Windows Live Mail on my desktop, or on my iPhone or iPad, and this is the format on all my devices. I have previously suggested that a Group Home link (and the other links available at the bottom of Individual message format) be made available in the Digest message format.? I've suggested this both on GMF and Beta groups.? (sorry I don't have a message # to reference.)? I have not pushed the issue, as I felt Mark has enough to deal with currently getting new groups transferred.? But I find it interesting that you have a the Home/Subscription/Messages/New Topics options that do not appear for Jim and I. Dotty |

I am looking at the test email message I get, not the web archive. Thanks for this pointer and making me aware of what I need to do for a response. I always like to respond with the prior post in the message, and so it appears the signature capability would be of no value to me. Stan On 3/1/2018 9:41 AM, J_Catlady wrote:
Quick note: I don't know if this is the problem here, but sigs in an email response to a prior message will be swept into the ellipses of the prior message and not seen in the web archive unless the ellipses are clicked on. Email sigs will show up only in an original message. For them to show up in a response, you would have to carefully edit the message to trim the prior post etc. |
