I received an autoreply from one RI member. I sent them a message through Admin, Members, Send Message (bottom of the record). The member was bouncing and RI. The message was about a change of email address. So messages are getting through from group owners to RI members. I also see them in Email Delivery History.

I just send the simple message this morning. But, of course, few have responded. Most bounced. This is my last try to get them reverified (and unbounced).

Here is what I sent to the 52 members who are still RI (We transferred our group from YahooGroups in the dawn of Groups.io!)

"Hello Ziner, We have recently had a lively discussion about traveling solo, about eSIMS and about travel in Japan. You missed them because you need to reverify your account with Groups.io. *Not our rule, but a spam blocking company made Groups.io do it.* It's simple to do. Just visit Groups.io. No password? Click on /sendloginlink Check your email for a reply with a link. Click on it. (If you don't see it, check your Spam or Junk mail.) If you aren't interested in belonging to the Zine, that's fine! Sorry to see you go. Just click on *Unsubscribe* in this email footer."

Is there someway to reset the group ownership and assign a new owner? I am currently not a member since I can't get approved.
I'm curious as to how you know this.

There may be co-owners, but that doesn't mean they know how to do anything. You first option is to send an email to?[email protected]?and see if anyone responds.

It seems highly unlikely that groups.io support will come to the aid of anyone who isn't currently a member of the group.

Good luck,

Group Forum owner is deceased. Reset?

Hello,

I hope this is the right place to post this question.

There is a problem with the TenTecEagle group and I'm hoping for suggestions.

I think I am done with it now, those unverified after all this time are surely not receiving or reading messages

Last I checked 31st Jan, out of 9 groups, I had 18 who needed to reverify their addresses

10 of those were NMM so had never posted

Checking today I still have 17

Anyone with a red B are not receiving anyway so not much point keeping them in the member list IMHO

I have been finding quite a bit of information about specific bouncing / RI members. In activity history and in Email Delivery History. Recently, Mark put in the capability to roll your mouse over the B to see last result from a message to the member. ?I have also been adding Notes about whether or not the person has posted to the group (or date of last post), etc.

Re: Members who have not reverified (still RI status) removal update

In a group I own, I have 6 (of 700+) who are RI.
?
Yet, I have many more who are Bounced or Not confirmed who have been in that state for a long time in spite of my attempts.
?
I do find some value in being able to see all of these people as "members", yet it does seem like all of these status' should be treated in a similar manner (and give moderators the knowledge and history they need).

There are obviously a lot of members here concerned with this: group members who have still not reverified. When will they be removed? There seemed to be a deadline of February 11tth, The original message from Groups.io stated that "After that, members still in the RI state will be removed from groups." Some group owners -- like me! -- took that to mean the RI members would be removed beginning Feb. 1th.

Yesterday on the Beta Group Mark clarified that.

Mark wrote that there are still some RI members reverifying, even at this late date, and due to that he has decided to give them an additional two weeks before final removal begins. I don't have any real problem with that.

Direct Add member notice

Hi,

I'm finishing up a direct add flow from my website using the APIs. I turned on the Direct Add notice and put in the needed fields. However, I'm not getting the notice when I do the Direct Add on my test email account.

Anyone have any experience with this? Anyone else using the Direct Add notice under Admin -> Settings -> Member Notices?

I see under Admin -> Settings -> Direct Add that you can turn off or on the sending of this notice. Ours is turned on.

image.png

Finally, I did a Direct Add interactively on the Groups admin web site and I got the Welcome, Direct Add, and Group Guidelines emails. When I do this with the API I get none of them.

Anyone else using the API for this? Shouldn't these scenarios work the same?

TIA for any help.

Re: Reply question

I use Yahoo mail as well. The ¡°Reply¡± and ¡°Reply All¡± buttons at the top of the screen will follow the settings for the group. ¡°Reply All¡± will usually do the same as ¡°Reply¡±.

?

The links in the footer of the message are different. ¡°Reply To Group¡± will do just as it says, send a reply to the Group. Same with ¡°Reply To Sender¡± which will reply only to the sender of the email, not the group.

Hi, Confusion about owner settings for how members reply¡

?

Is it the custom for a member, when replying to a post to click one of the choices at the bottom : Reply to Sender, or Reply all?

?

If my settings say that a reply goes to everyone, then is that what happens if the sender replies at the top, with one arrow, or two (as my Yahoo format has). ?If, as owner I set it to just repy to sender, does that negate the replier using one of the bottom reply links?

I only use the footer when I want to reply only to the sender. Otherwise, I use my email program itself. Or I use the footer to go to the message in Groups.io.?

I can't give you info about Yahoo Mail, but I would not set my group preferences to just reply to sender. ?I have my settings for most groups as Reply to Group, but I don't choose "Remove Other Reply Options".
Removes links on the website and digest to reply options other than your selected Reply To option. ?

If you may ever delete all subgroups, then I wouldn't do that.? If you intend to always have at least one subgroup, even as a placeholder, it's not a bad idea for them to update, but not mandatory.

Yes, and note that you can rename "main@..." to something else if you wish.

A thread can be given priority - by making it a sticky. But it doesn't give priority to reply emails from the owner or moderator over the first post in the thread. The posts are in time order, albeit they are top of the messages list on the group homepage.

There may be some workaround like merging or splitting. The moderator could start a new thread and put a link to the other messages in the post. But is it worthwhile??

If the owner or moderator wishes to have a sticky message, write a new one, make it a sticky (from hamburger menu below the message) or even lock it as well.

If you want to make a message stand out and get people¡¯e attention, add a prefix of [ADMIN] to the message title.

I am sure you must have a reason but why do you "clean out" any
messages? they don't take up storage room, and clearing messages from a
group does nothing to those subscribers who have received those messages
?
And if you clear out and leave just two pages, what do you mean by "Back
activity"?

Re: Question Please [Cleaning activity]

If you don't want a message archive for your group, you can add time limiters through hashtags.?

You can also merge topics and then assign a hashtag to schedule an automatic removal.
See?/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-hashtags/hashtag-uses

/helpcenter/ownersmanual/1/managing-group-topics-and-messages

However, I am with Nivard. I sell Groups.io to my committees by saying that there is an archive of discussions.?
I do delete messages from Groups.io in my own personal email account though.
