As I understand it, the canned text is there due to local laws in some jurisdictions, but it would be a lot less confusing to be able to put our own text at the top, if nothing else than to explain the existence of the text below.? Better would be allow us to customize or eliminate the canned text, presumably at our own peril if such be the case.? Given that we are inviting a specific set of recipients to receive the message, it would be our responsibility, and within our capability, to verify compliance with local laws in such cases. Far too many messages, including member notices, especially the Pending Subscription and Welcome Message, too often go into a spam folder, often never checked or seen. I sometimes need to repeat via a personal email rather than via g.io.?
?
Problems with messages going into spam seem worst for those on Comcast email.

Members sometimes only receiving replies, rather than original message
Sometimes a member of my group does not receive an email sent to the group, but then does receive an email replying to that message, with the original message included. I remember this also happened to me on one occasion, and I¡¯m the group owner.
I¡¯ve looked at the membership details of the members who have complained of this. There are no obvious problems and while a couple of the email hosts are btinternet, another one is yahoo. Can you suggest a reason for this problem, and is there anything I, as group owner and moderator, can do about it? |

All groups.io emails contain the subscribed address, right next to the unsubscribe link (see screenshot).
This is the email address that she needs to use to log in. Regards, Bruce Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |

Hello Group,
I send out about 100 invites and I've now gotten two odd responses from members. They are responding to the "pending membership" notice.?Why are they getting the "pending membership" notice when they've been invited? ?I assumed the "pending membership" noticed was triggered when a person requests to join, however these members claim to have followed the invite link. What's happening here? BB |
Re: Member can't access the group via web

You might ask her to click on her name in the upper right corner of the screen and tell you what email address shows up. It will most likely be different than the one you see if you look at her member record, confirming (as Duane said) that she's logged in with a different account.

Member can't access the group via web
#issue
A member contacted me saying she can't access any longer the group via web.
She used to access the group web interface without any problem, but now she can only view the group homepage and can't click on any link. The group does not show in her "Your Groups" list, but she regularly receives mails from the group and her account is not bouncing. She tried to logout and then login again, but nothing changed. How can I help her? Thank you in advance for your help. Marina |

Re: website group access restriction for specified members

Hi Jay,? I had a main group with less than tech savvy people. Similar problem. We didn't want main group "non club" members accessing certain files. Previously we hadn't added "non club" members into the main group. What changed is we needed to allow non club members into the main group for the purpose of receiving main group notices and posts.?
Here's how I handled it.?
?
I created a sub group.?
Next I downloaded all files and databases needing restricted access and uploaded them into the sub group. I deleted those files in the main group.?
I then direct added all the main group members that needed access into the relocated subgroup files.?
?
The new subgroup members can now direct access the files.?
They need to log into the subgroup but it's the same login they use to get to the main group so nothing new to learn. I can even post sub group links in the main group and only those in the subgroup can access those links.?
The file structures and names look the same so no change there either.? There is one caution with doing that. If your archived messages contain links to files that were moved the links won't work without editing the message links. And if members attached restricted files to messages then those in the main group will likely have access to the attachments. Sandi

Our club president has asked me if there is a way to restrict members from the web interface (or only allow access to the mailing list for a group), in order to support certain outside members/ambassadors from other clubs...As others have said, there is no "almost a member" subscription status. At the same time, setting up a subgroup and moving all the sensitive stuff to it seems like real hassle just to accommodate a number of people that could probably be counted on one hand. The above suggests you just want to let them to participate in the group's existing message traffic. If your message archive is public, non-members can already read it online. If you want such people to receive group emails too, that can be done with a mail forwarder (from someone who is already subscribed). If you want to allow non-members to post, there is a setting for that, too...such posts are always moderated. If you don't want them to be moderated, set up an email integration and have them post to that. Not inclined to elaborate further until I better understand what your goal is. Regards, Bruce?
