Re: Reply options inconsistent in footer
Frances, if you force HTML, does it override the reply rule you set
for a hashtag? I just tested this, and it looks like it does. Here's what I mean: I checked the "force to HTML option for a subgroup, and set a rule on a hashtag to a "reply to sender" instruction, rather than the "reply all" that is the default for messages without the hashtag. I created a message in text format and sent it to the group. But it appears that the hashtag default of "reply to sender" is overridden when the text message is forced into HTML. Is that correct? I want the hashtag rule to control. |

I would like to PIN that database as the top 'entry/document/file' in the top-level folder.Dan -- Your database has a URL within groups.io. Just "upload" that URL to your Files area as a "Generic Link." As for "pinning" it, that could be problematic. The only way to know to do that is to provide this new "file" with a Name that would sort to the top (alphabetically). Likewise, I'd like to create a column in the database/table the would link back to the individual folder for that individual. In your database, create a column of type Link. Add the URL for the folder in question in each cell, along with an appropriate Title and Description. Default color for a database column now seems to be blue; be sure to select something else or the link will not be visible. Finally, please note that when you click on any of these links -- either the one you "uploaded" to the Files area or the ones in your database table -- the destination always opens in a new browser tab. I don't know of any way to override this behavior. Hope this helps, Bruce Check out the groups.io Help Center?and?groups.io Owners Manual |
Overall, I created a File folder that contains a number of individual file folders.
Stored in it are single, personal files, one for each of the members who have died, that members can post memento's , etc. about that member. I have created a Database (table) with pertinent information listing all of the members who have died. I would like to PIN that database as the top 'entry/document/file' in the top-level folder. Likewise, I'd like to create a column in the database/table the would link back to the individual folder for that individual. Restated: a Master folder contains 1, 2, 3, 4, 5~ individual folders; I want to PIN the Database ahead of file number 1, to perform as a 'locator' or 'index'. I'd like the Database to contain a column that has a link back to file number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5~ Thanks! [Subject line edited by Moderator for brevity] |

Re: Non-member messages without moderation?
#moderation
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýBill,One way to get around the limitation is to have them sent their emails not to the group but to a custom Gmail (or whoever) address you create, which you have already added to the group and have set up custom forwarding (of their messages only) to the group address. That will allow their messages to post to the group unmoderated but won't give them access to the group's pages. Cheers, Christos |

Non-member messages without moderation?
#moderation
Is it possible to allow select non-members to send messages to the group without going through moderation? All outsiders?
We have one vendor that frequently sends messages to the group but we don't want to add them as a member with access to all our messages. It's annoying to have to approve every one of their messages. I thought I read somewhere that non-members were allowed to send skip moderation once they had successfully been through it twice. Thanks in advance. Bill Bill |
Re: Send Bounce Probe option missing
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAhh, it makes sense now.? As Duane mentioned in /g/GroupManagersForum/message/41229 , "I try to make it a habit now to click the Members button at the top so it's starting with clear parameters before starting to filter."? That's the safest way to clear the filters and not run into this.Cheers, Christos On 2022-05-21 14:40, Epicatt2 via

I suggest ticking the "Locked" checkbox so the topic is locked immediately, but you might want to review the other available options before deciding. Is this a normal function or a bug?Although the From: address in the notification's header says "[email protected]", the actual Reply-to: address remains the group's posting address. If -- as the notification actually says -- people are to be discouraged from replying, a good argument could be made that this is a bug, or at least undesirable behavior. Having said that, it could be that other group owners like it this way; so I'm not inclined to report it as one. New Chat Request
I am having a situation in our group that I am not sure is normal or not.
We have a member that has requested a new chat on two separate topics with the group, and the members are receiving the notifications which I think is a normal function. What is happening though is the members are replying to the Chat request email they receive, that has a?[email protected]?address that comes with the request, and their replies are showing up in Messages as posts to the group.?Is this a normal function or a bug?
