As Duane mentioned in /g/GroupManagersForum/message/41229 , "I try to make it a habit now to click the Members button at the top so it's starting with clear parameters before starting to filter."? Backtracking I found that a pending member had just popped up (and I did not notice that had just ocurred) so while the 'Pending Members' box was (also) checked there was no 'send bounce probe' option showing . I then unchecked that 'Pending Members' box and filtered only for 'Bouncing' and 'lo, the 'send bounce probe' option again appeared in the 'Action' button's dropdown menu. Mystery solved....
