Re: Invite accepted!

Eric,
It's OK to log out and log back in again after you have invited transfer to your yahoo group, and are waiting for that invitation to be accepted. ?When you log back in, go to the transfer instructions page, click on the existing transfer and check the notice at the top of the page. ?When it says your invite has been accepted, then you can make transfer a moderator and click the go ahead button. ?I logged out and in many times and even rebooted my computer a couple times during the 3 days I was waiting for my invitation to be accepted.

John,

It's in BETA testing right now.? I too will be very happy when this is released.

Over on the PGO forums, the following from the team was posted ...

Have you seen PGO-2-GIO?
?
It transfers groups you've downloaded using PGO to groups.io

There is a video of me using an early version here:

There are some things the team is looking to overcome from Yahoo messages that make things rather glitchy.?? The problematic thing is with attachments that are named with the quote character.

If it is a restricted group, you don't have to have moderation enabled. In Admin, Settings. Scroll down to Spam Control. You must have at least one of these checked. (You can moderate the first message for a new member - make sure that you pick unmoderate after 1 message.)

Spam Control -
You must choose from among these four options. At least one of these options must be set as a spam-control measure.
?
If you choose Restricted only, you do not need to moderate ANY messages, if you wish. But you will have to approve new subscribers.?There is no Spam Control setting that will allow a new subscriber to join your group without approval and immediately post an unmoderated message.

If you have transferred from Yahoo, people are migrated with their Yahoo status.

Re: How does the reject message process work?

In my testing just now, I thought I would try rejecting through email, rather than on the group site.

The needs Message Approval Needed email says:

To reject this message using email, and to have the sender notified of this, forward this message to:
GroupManagersForum+reject+1905519+19+3587565863729549762@groups.io
?
To delete this message using email, forward this message to:
It is not particularly intuitive. I finally figured out that I must copy the Reject link (e-mail address), then click on FORWARD for the full Message Approval Needed email, and paste in the copied address in the new (forwarding) email.

Be sure to send the forwarding email from your owner/moderator email address.

I just tested again and if you have a rejection notice, using the forwarding adds that notice to the email notification.

Eric, I am confused. You posted in a thread that says Invite accepted.
I thought you meant that you were well on your way. But you asked on Beta?
About how long will it take from when I sent the invite from Yahoo until the invitation is accepted and we can make Groups.io a moderator.?
When did you invite transfer to your Yahoo Group?
If it still says If the status is the message that starts "Make sure you have sent an invite to your group", do it.
Again, if it is over 6 hours. Watch for the acceptance email. Then upgrade the transfer agent to moderator of your Yahoo Group.

Mary -- Groups.io does not append any buttons to rejected messages. Your own email client must be doing that.

Odd. I just re-tested and I don't see that.

I sent an email from another email address (this is a member of my test group.)
I rejected the message using one of my "canned" rejection notices.?
I see the email saying my message was rejected and the text of my rejection notice.
Nothing else.

Is it because I have created the notice in Member Notices for my group?

How does the reject message process work?

Mary R Frank

I subscribe to my own list with a separate (2nd) email address that I use to test processes.? I rejected my own message and it went to my test email account noting that it was rejected (with the personal message I sent, asking myself to redo the email and resubmit it to the group).

I noticed that when I received the rejected message in my test email program, there were three green buttons at the bottom:? Please resubmit, Approved, and Yes, I approve.? What are those buttons for?? I couldn't find any documentation on what the recipient is supposed to do with those buttons.? It seems that each one opens an email back to the owner, but I don't understand the point.? ?Is this supposed to be a way for the recipient to redo their "bad" message and send it back to the group? If so, how come when I tested it, my fixed message didn't go back into the group's pending list?

remove primary e-mail addess?

What does the item below from the group transfer checklist mean, and why would you do it?

Maybe remove your primary email address from your group@ (preserve your Join date

Re: Export database with images

Thanks again Duane.....
I need something for the casual user. ?We are creating a catalog of statues, front view, rear view and description. ?I can do it in Excel, but again, one must be well versed with Excel to succeed there..

We have folks looking into Google Docs, but I don't have much hope for that....

The Groups.io database would have been perfect, if it would have worked to our needs.
