Shal You may be on to something. I extensively customized each of the default boilerplate Welcome Notices. I did not create brand new notices of the type Welcome and make them active. Since I have a few groups in the queue waiting to be transferred, I have created a new notice of the type Welcome, copied my customized text into it, and made it active. I have deactivated the default message, the one that I customized. I will report what happens. At a more leisurely moment I may quibble about the possible interpretations of "created a customized welcome message for your group." Thanks for bringing this up. Robert R. |

Re: Directory not showing all members
Directory vs the Members List
There are two places with group member names:
?
one that has all members (the Members List in the Admin area) and
the Directory. However, not all members are in the Directory - you can opt out.
?
The Directory is an index of member profiles.
?
A Subscriber's profile will be visible in the Directory only if:
?
-- (s)he creates a Profile and chooses to share it (Subscription->Group Profile->Edit Group Profile->Profile Privacy*), and,
-- group settings under Privacy->Member Directory is set to Subscribers, OR
-- the person viewing the Directory has Owner/Moderator privileges.?
?
The content of a user's profile can be anything they choose to put in it. Group Owners and Moderators cannot edit user profiles.
?
The Members List is an index of subscriptions.?
Its visibility is set by Admin->Settings->Privacy->Members Visible.?
Content is restricted by the system to designated fields (email address, display name, join date, mail delivery, etc) that are necessary to perform system functions.?
?
For privacy reasons, the members list will usually be visible only to Owners and Moderators, who can also "click through" each member record to send +owner messages, view activity, save notes about this subscription, or generally manage subscription settings.?
?
If you as an Owner want Subscribers to be able to "see" every other Subscriber in the group without forcing everyone to jump through the profile hoop, you must make the Members List visible. Doing so will not give Subscribers access to the underlying information, however -- only the "stuff" that appears in the main index (Display Name, Message Delivery, Email Address, and Join Date).
?
*Account and group profiles may also be edited via Account->Identity

Re: Welcome Message Not Sent After Transition
Robert, ... but not the customized Welcome Notice. Did you actually customize (edit) the Welcome Notice text? The Note says:
(Yellow highlighter mine) The way I read it is that if you simply left the boilerplate Welcome notice in place and active, that would not be sent. I think mostly because the boilerplate content is largely redundant with the You've been added... notice. In a couple of groups I did Direct Add three accounts for our Moderators, including a different address that comes to me. That's how I know that the Welcome Notice is working properly for members subscribed by the Owner/Moderator, just not the ones added by [email protected] in the course of a group transfer. I have checked with several people whose addresses were added as the group was transferred, and all of them report that they received the Groups.io "You have been added" message, but not the customized Welcome Notice. I've checked the settings pretty thoroughly, so this does seem to be a bug. It would help to confirm it if even a few more members of this group report the same problem. It seems unlikely that Jesse and I are the only ones affected. if the problem is widespread, it seems to impact some very basic functionality. Thanks for your interest in this, Bruce. Robert R. |

Is it possible to sort somehow the Members' List so as to see just all

Marina,
It is really easy to get a member list into your computere where it is easy to inspect and sort, in a
spreadsheet / tabular format , if you have permission to see your member list.
The one way I know is: you go online to your group,
Do an Admin/ Members then on the upper menubar Click Download .
This will open a browser window with your members in a text file called
memberlist.csv.
Save that somewhere memorable in your computer.
Use a spreadsheet program to open that and you should get a neat table which should be
sortable by column . Look at the last column, "User Status"
OK,

My problem is how to I get the left behind 300 members?? Is there a way to get the full list of 1300 members exported from my Yahoo group in a CSV style?Well, there is the manual method :-) Press the PageDown button every now and then, for about 10 minutes, until all members have loaded, then press Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C, wait about 20 seconds for it to populate the clipboard, then paste into a text editor. I just did this for a group with 5000 members. Vivaldi browser. Samuel |

Re: Welcome Message Not Sent After Transition
Robert, I sent out my Welcome Notice as a special notice because none of my test accounts nor any member I spoke to received it automatically. Spam folders were indeed checked and I was thorough in checking New members that have joined after our transition have been receiving the automatic Welcome Notice. This was a very minor blip in our otherwise super smooth Easy Transfer process. I'm grateful to all the support here at Groups.io and delighted to be here.? Your mileage may vary, void where prohibited, objects in mirror may be closer than they appear. Then, later, when I elect to proceed with using groups.io, how will I "activate" the group?Once a group is set up -- and already reviewed against the groups.io Terms of Service -- it is already "active."? Once you complete the Easy Group Transfer and receive the Owner's completion notice, you can lock the group...you'll find a baby-blue button for that at the very bottom of the Settings page. This will keep anyone (including you) from accidentally posting something to the group and tipping people off until such time that you've finished up whatever it is you need to do over that "month or so" time period. I do NOT recommend locking the group until the transfer is done. It's possible that the transfer agent will be able to complete the transfer anyway, but it could also mess things up royally. ?Is there a way to send the Welcome Notice and the "you've been added" notification at that later time? ?Or is there another way?Yes and no. You can?manually send any existing Member Notice by selecting a collection of people from your Member List (using the checkboxes) and choosing "Send Message" from the Actions pull-down menu at the bottom of the page. I'm pretty sure this works even if those people have "No Email" selected for message delivery. You cannot, however, manually send the "you've been added" notification with the opt-out link. That notification is a system-generated, one-time deal. Is there an option for me to set up the transfer with the members and the archive content, and then just hold off on the step to Welcome/Notify the members, i.e. freeze the process after everything is exported form YahooGroups, but before the members are alerted? ?I believe I have already answered this...if there's something different here I'm not picking up on it. One more question: Before welcoming/notifying new members, can I edit/update some of their email addresses? ?As I went to transfer from YG to GoogleGroups, I came to know some people have new email addresses....Since you have a Premium group, you can do this...but I wouldn't recommend it. For one thing, it might generate a notification...and you've already said that you don't want them to be notified. It will also change their email address in any other group in groups.io that they may already be subscribed to, and you may end up with some very unhappy campers because of it. It's my experience that helping people who haven't asked for my help is not very helpful. :-) Bruce |
