If so, you're the first one to report it. I'm not betting on anything with Yahoo Groups anymore.

I have already migrated two other Yahoo groups to groups.io with no problem, but they were done before the 28th.
Wow. I just browsed to one of my Yahoo Groups and everything is REALLY SLOW.?Are you double-sure that you have the necessary permissions to send an invitation in this particular group? I know I've asked you that before but it's the only thing I can think of to explain why I can access those management tools and you can't.

In the meantime, I have initiated a download from Yahoo of all my data. I am waiting for them to respond with a link to the download.
That's probably wise in any event.

Good luck,
Bruce

I don't even see the Admin pull down where I could initiate an invite. This is why I am wondering if Yahoo is not allowing any more invites. I have already migrated two other Yahoo groups to groups.io with no problem, but they were done before the 28th. I'm just wondering if everything changed after the 28th. In the meantime, I have initiated a download from Yahoo of all my data. I am waiting for them to respond with a link to the download.

Thanks,

What you are describing is not unusual, and you really should try sending the invitation more than once before writing it all off.

Sally -- Online, click on the quote bubble at the far left end of the toolbar of the message editor.

Using your email client, use whatever tools it provides.

Bruce

Re: Able to edit reject message heading?

Michael - On YG the reject email had the original subject as the subject of the rejected email. Yes agreed this wording is nicer than "reject" but still may be confusing if all they are doing is asking for info or making a comment. Yes (sigh) they should use?+owner for that, but that's the least of what I have to remind members about ;)
David, thank you, that's another good idea, just it doesn't automatically add in the original message.
Ok I will post it in Beta, Bruce, good idea to offer an alternative, thank you.
Just working out the kinks here, so wonderful of all the members, especially Shal (!) to try to help everyone.

This is an anti-spamming feature. It was introduced two years ago when a spammer set up a group and sent out 600,000 invitations.

See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/20-Invitations-Limit?for details.

What happens next?? Thank you.
You do what it says...wait for the notification.

John,

From the FAQ I mentioned:

8. How do I check the transfer status?
?
Transfers are queued up when you first set it up and processed in that order until you get to Step 5.?
?
At that point they are re-ordered based on when the transfer go-ahead is given and uploaded to in that order (unless you pay $200 for priority service).
?
When you click on the green "Set Up New Transfer" button at bottom left of the Yahoo groups transfer page (/yahootransfer), a new page will come up where you can enter the source and destination group names.?
?
There is also a series of checkboxes for the various areas of the group to transfer (files, photos, members, messages, etc). Simply uncheck the ones you don't want before clicking the "Start New Transfer Process" button.
?
(a) If you've already started a transfer:
?
Go to the Yahoo transfer page at /yahootransfer
?
Select the transfer you want to check status on from "Existing Transfers" at lower right (i.e.: click on the name)
?
The box at the top of the resulting page will tell you the status of that transfer.
?
Repeat for any other transfers you may have in progress.
?
?- if the status is the message that starts "Make sure you have sent an invite to your group":
?
This means that Groups.io has not received your invite yet and that you should send another one. They will send you an email once they have received and accepted an invite. If this message hasn't been updated within 6 hours of you sending your invite, please send another one. This notice will be updated when they ?have received your invite.?
?
(b) For transfers that are actually approved and in progress, see where you are in the queue:
?
When you go to edit your transfer, if it's been submitted for transfer, you'll now see one of these 4 status lines:
?
Your group is awaiting export from Yahoo. [Step 1 of 4]
Your group is being exported from Yahoo right now. [Step 2 of 4]
Your group is awaiting import into Groups.io. There are about N groups ahead of it in the queue. [Step 3 of 4] **
Your group is being imported into Groups.io right now. [Step 4 of 4]
?
** Where N in Step 3 is an estimate as to where you are in the queue. i.e. Your group is about 70th in the queue right now.
?
Step 4 is the biggest bottleneck, as I can only import so many groups at a time without overloading the system. I can't give an estimate as to how long each group takes to be imported, because each group is different (how many photos, how many messages, etc). Also it's dependent on how many groups have requested expedited processing at the time.

So, 5000+ members groups are still free?

Hello

There was a post by Mark that implied that groups with lots of members will have to be paid groups in future, but then things changed again. What is the latest on this issue?

I'd like to create a free group and invite the current 5000 or so members to the group. No doubt many of them will not join, but what if lots of them do join? Traffic on the list is about 50-100 messages per month.

Samuel

Thank you, Bruce, for your quick reply.

I've checked about a half dozen accounts and none have received the welcome message. I made it active a week ago in preparation for the big transition.?
?
I will send it out manually. That isn't a big deal. The automated migration has been smooth and my members are already happily posting away on?.

I guess you could jump to the beginning by changing the column that sorts the list, and then jump to the end by reversing that order again, but why not have a?? <<?? and? >>? to do that from the to jump line?

Orest -- You can click on the column headers of any table to change sort order.

In messages/topics display, clicking on the Date link will do the same, jumping you to the beginning or end as needed.

Hope this helps,
