Detailed Instructions on How to Conduct a Yahoo Transfer
Folks -- Appended below please find detailed instructions on how to conduct a transfer using the Easy Group Transfer method.
See also the new FAQ at?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/FAQ-on-Moving-from-YahooGroups To check status of an ongoing transfer:??/g/GroupManagersForum/message/19948 Please note that the way you select an existing transfer for further processing has changed. It used to be a pull-down menu, it is now a list of links. I will be re-posting this message periodically for the benefit of all the new people that continue to flood in. My apologies for the inevitable dupes in your email inbox. Regards, Bruce Here is the process. It is not fully automated and will take several days.?Do not do anything out of order. The following instructions are for a full-width desktop/laptop display. This can all be done on mobile too, but it's a lot easier if you don't. 0.1 Go here:?/
0.2 At the bottom of the page, you'll find a link that says "Easy Group Transfer." Click it.
0.3 Scroll to the bottom of the subsequent page and click on the big blue button labelled "Yahoo Group Instructions."
0.4 You should be at?/yahootransfer. Read the instructions carefully, including all the Notes. Bookmark this page, too. You will come back here several times.
Most of us have "been there" with this process before and it all sounds easy in hindsight. Ironically, the same thing that's causing most people to abandon Y!G (server downtime) is exactly the same thing most likely to get in the way of completing the transfer process.?The best time to initiate a transfer is when Yahoo is performing well.?If you procrastinate until things are crashing and burning, delays, incomplete transfers, and other such frustrations can be expected. |
Thanks for the reply, Bruce.
Sorry to have asked again but was unclear whether we could maybe do the invite first, then wait.... So..... One can NO LONGER initiate an invite of [transfer @ groups.io] to his/her YGroup UNTIL AFTER they have UPGRADED their GIO group to Premium in order to have the e-addy ready in their YGroup's membership roster for when they finally do the upgrade to Premium status? True? I was thinkng that, in view of the current & frequent unexpected Y!G delays, we might be able to save some time if we got [transfer @ groups.io] in place beforehand. I'm sure that there are still other YGroup owners/moderators out there who may be wondering about this as a possibility, which is part of why I asked again. Regards, Paul M. == |

But it's clearly not what the instructions say to do. Bruce |

True? ?It's my understanding that when an invite comes in to GIO, it's checked against the list of pending transfers.? If it's not on the list, the invite is ignored/tossed.? Of course, I may be totally wrong!? The Detailed Instruction message is based on multiple reports of what works, so best to follow it. I cannot find the place to pay for the accelerated transfer...Outlawmws -- That button will appear on the status page once you actually get in the transfer queue. ...and I have NOT revived the response to the invite I sent 2 weeks ago Sunday?? everything seems yo have died?Check your transfer status per?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/21952? ?Does it say "We have received your invite and will accept it soon?" If so, all you can do is wait. If not, you need to go back to your Yahoo Group and resend it. Keep trying until it works. Some folks have had more success using a different device/browser, or clearing browser cookies. If you don't have adequate permissions to both send invitations and promote the transfer agent to a Moderator, find someone who does. Good luck, Bruce |
