Re: Possible to download YG cover photos for reuse in GIO?

The code looks like this on one of mine:
<div id="cover-photo" class="cover-photo wviewvert" style="background-image: url(/g/GroupManagersForum/messages/&quot;http:/l.yimg.com/ru/defcovers/SPECIFIC-STUFF-HERE&quot;);"></div>

You answered that:
I guess you could jump to the beginning by changing the column that sorts the list, and then jump to the end by reversing that order again,
but why not have a << and >> to do that from the to jump line?
Good suggestion - for the "beta" group (Groups.io's suggestion box).

Am I missing something?
For easier navigation try resetting your "Account > Preferences > Items Per Page" to "100":

Use the downward arrow after your name (in the upper right corner) to select "Account"
OR
Go to: /account
Click on "Preferences" in left column
Web Site Preferences > Items Per Page
set to "100"
Click "Update Preferences" at bottom of page

The default is 20 Items Per Page (which your screen shot of "121-140 of 429" shows).
100 Items Per Page will allow you to make bigger jumps and to scroll among 100 rather than 20 Items Per Page.

NOTE: "Infinite Scroll" sounds more desirable, but it doesn't seem to work right for everything - or at least didn't, I haven't tested it recently.

So was I the only one that jumped backwards 100 places ?!

I was 801 Monday night, 856 Tuesday night and 904 Wednesday morning. I'm back down around 850.... but I started at 801!

Yahoo group name doesn't match

I told the person in charge of my Yahoo group I would take care of transferring to groups.io, or that I would find someone who would.

Here is what he told me.

The group you have set up at is not quite the same as ours at Yahoo
groups... note, here we have a dash (hyphen) between BEAUTIFUL and
INSTRUMENTALS as this:-? Beautiful-Instrumentals.

I don't imagine that would be a problem but it might in migrating the members
to the platform.

Have you any knowledge of this?

Re: Joining and Login Issues #addmembers #membershiprequest

Thank you Chris for the suggestion.? We are new to the mix and slowing learning the ropes.? I appreciate the help and guidance.

Re: Able to edit reject message heading?

I am able to edit my rejected message subject. I actually liked the wording - I just added our group name, saved it and it stuck.

Niman,

Select what you want to paste before replying. It will automatically be pasted along with the introductory "On ...."

If you want to include the whole post, click on the lasso icon on the top left hand side of the reply panel after you have started the reply.

Re: Transferring Yahoo group after October 28

I used PG Offline to download several large photo directories from YG lists in the last week, including two yesterday.

Downloaded in just a few minutes.? First time user of PG offline; while it required manual uploading of albums to groups.io, I got 10GB of YG photos?

downsized and moved to 3 Basic (Free) lists on groups.io in just a few days; the backlog of Premium list transfers has been much longer.? Space required for storage

was reduced 80%.? I wanted to finish by the first of December, instead I finished on Halloween.

Earl,

You will get an email telling you that it has gone through. Mine have been coming within a day or so. It is working and is worth the wait!

Larry,

My capacity for doing invites is working just fine. All functions are intact.

Re: When you are in Stage 3

I started out at 517 on October 27.? I'm at 430 now.? My hope is that the further we get from the Yahoo drop dead date of October 28, the faster things will move.? It's not looking that way, but one can hope!

Looks like they are running about 30 groups per day right now.? So 857 would take maybe 28 days at that rate.? Hopefully it will speed up a bit....

I have just found your Home Page; may I be so bold as to suggest that you remove the email addresses of your Moderators? Leaving those on a publicly visible page is high risk; the only thing missing is a big flashing sign saying Please send me as much spam (and worse) as you possibly can.

Groups operate perfectly well without individual people having their email addresses visible on the Home Page.

If so, you're the first one to report it. I'm not betting on anything with Yahoo Groups anymore.

I have already migrated two other Yahoo groups to groups.io with no problem, but they were done before the 28th.
Wow. I just browsed to one of my Yahoo Groups and everything is REALLY SLOW.?Are you double-sure that you have the necessary permissions to send an invitation in this particular group? I know I've asked you that before but it's the only thing I can think of to explain why I can access those management tools and you can't.

In the meantime, I have initiated a download from Yahoo of all my data. I am waiting for them to respond with a link to the download.
That's probably wise in any event.

Good luck,
Bruce

What you are describing is not unusual, and you really should try sending the invitation more than once before writing it all off.

According to Mark Murphy (not to be confused with Mark Fletcher), his group moved from #198 in the queue to the actual upload to groups.io about 6 days (Ref:?/g/GroupManagersForum/message/21624).

Your mileage may vary, void where prohibited, objects in mirror may be closer than they appear.

Copying Original Message In Reply (was: Able to edit reject message heading?)

Sally -- Online, click on the quote bubble at the far left end of the toolbar of the message editor.

Using your email client, use whatever tools it provides.

Bruce

Re: Able to edit reject message heading?

Michael - On YG the reject email had the original subject as the subject of the rejected email. Yes agreed this wording is nicer than "reject" but still may be confusing if all they are doing is asking for info or making a comment. Yes (sigh) they should use?+owner for that, but that's the least of what I have to remind members about ;)
David, thank you, that's another good idea, just it doesn't automatically add in the original message.
Ok I will post it in Beta, Bruce, good idea to offer an alternative, thank you.
Just working out the kinks here, so wonderful of all the members, especially Shal (!) to try to help everyone.

You have reached the limit for number of direct adds that can be processed without approval. Once your new direct adds have been approved, they will be processed. You will receive a notification when this happens.
This is an anti-spamming feature. It was introduced two years ago when a spammer set up a group and sent out 600,000 invitations.

See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/20-Invitations-Limit?for details.

What happens next?? Thank you.
You do what it says...wait for the notification.
