Re: Joining Issues

This is necessary to ensure that groups.io can reach them...they must click on the link in that email to begin to receive any groups.io messages. Of course, if the confirmation message lands in their spam/junk email folder -- or the subscriber we're talking about is uber-conservative about clicking on links in messages -- the whole thing becomes problematical. Re: Joining Issues
Amanda, Weird thing is the first four who joined had no trouble joining it's been the last three who tried. Two of which said it wouldn't let them join but they show up on the member list with NC beside them ... Those two did join your group, but being Not Confirmed they don't receive group postings yet. They'll need to receive a confirmation email and reply to it to confirm that their email address is correct. and the third doesn't show up at all.? That one did not succeed in joining. If he/she is attempting to join by using the email +subscribe command, he/she must receive a confirmation request email and reply to it in order to complete their subscription. Re: Calendar not consistently sending reminders
#cal-reminder
Gayle, I checked and there are no reminder messages in the group messages or my personal mailserver from our calendar reminders since March 28.? Prior to this the emails were generated as expected 5 days prior to the event. Make sure the events have not been cancelled. I think this applies only to events with RSVPs, which are a Premium feature. Have any of them been showing up in your group's Pending messages page? It is possible for event reminders to require moderator approval (irrespective of the group's Moderated checkbox). I would go to your group's Hashtag's page and click on the Edit button for #cal-reminder. Make sure none of the hashtag options are set, or look into the function of any that are. I don't see any that would result in a message being missing from both the archive and one's email inbox, but maybe there's something I haven't noticed. Do likewise for any hashtags that appear in the event's Event Name field. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |
Re: Calendar not consistently sending reminders

Gayle Booth
Are the notices appearing in your group's Messages page consistently, or are the same ones missing from both the web and your email Inbox?
?
Any hashtags in the Event Name fields?
Shal, thanks for your reply.? I have all member birthdays & anniversaries on the calendar and set with a reminder to be sent to all 5 days before the event.? I checked and there are no reminder messages in the group messages or my personal mailserver from our groups.io calendar reminders since March 28.? Prior to this the emails were generated as expected 5 days prior to the event. Any ideas? Gayle? |
Re: Can't interact with a Message sent to the Owner's email
davew, You can Shal, on Y* at least (dont use other). ... In this case I'm referring to a "Send-only email address" for [email protected] When you add that address Yahoo Mail will send a verification email to that address. Which may startle your other group owners/moderators - so you may want to warn them first! After you've verified it that address becomes available in the From field (which is now a drop-list) when you compose messages. While this is pretty slick, I am concerned that messages sent that way may be more likely to be rejected or placed in spam folders because they are "spoofed" -- Yahoo Mail marks them as a "SoftFail for SPF. I'd never heard of SoftFail before, but I guess that's a way of saying that yes, we sent it, but the header From address isn't our domain (i.e. It's a spoof!). On the other hand, both my ISP service and Gmail delivered a message sent from Yahoo Mail with [email protected] as the From address without complaint. Gmail notes that the SPF was SoftFail if you use Show Original, but it isn't adversely marked in the message list. Re: Bouncing member not receiving probe
davew, I've got a bouncer who swears he has no such SPAM messages, That may mean that his email service rejected the bounce probe(s) as well. He may have to contact the technical support for his service and read them the response code (from the Reason column in the Recent Bounces section of the Email Delivery History tab on his Subscription page. Hopefully they can use that information to correct the problem. It isn't supposed to happen, but it is also possible that his email service discarded the bounce probe message(s) after accepting them. ? but i wonder if he just deleted them by accident without thought to the different subject shown. That's also possible. Shal -- Help: /static/help More Help: /g/GroupManagersForum/wiki Even More Help: Search button at the top of Messages list |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDonald,Thanks for the suggestions. However, as I said on the other message (before this one) I forgot to add, I want this to schedule a poll, so, it would need to be a groups.io feature itself, I think. Anyway, I'll take a look at some Thunderbird (the email client I'm using) add-ons for this scheduling purpose, even if it's just for fun :) Thanks again. How to manage members - not Slack
Considering using Groups.io Enterprise version.... Is it feasible to synch group members with another application that is not Slack??? How about bulk update/importing names, how does the Direct Add feature work? Does that work as a diff function? (Add new names, delete names not on import) Scott McGrath COO scott.mcgrath@... ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDuane,You could add an event to the calendar and have it send a notice at the scheduled time, but it would be visible on the calendar before then.Following this option, I wouldn't be able to create a poll, for example, isn't it? Actually, I forgot this detail. I want to schedule a poll, not a simple post :) my bad, I should've added it. You could also add a hashtag that is moderated so that the post would need to be approved (at the appropriate time) before postingHmmm, interesting. In this case, I would have to aprove my own message, when I want it to be sent? Also, looks like this option will only work in a period within 14 days, because if I'm not going wrong, this is the max time for holding a message needing aproval. More information here about some add-ons for email to make the process easier: The above short article mentions a plug-in for Outlook that makes it easier to delay sending messages, as the built-in utility is buried and difficult to find, though I've used it before in the office just using the help file to guide me through the process. If you find Gmail's delayed send feature a bit difficult to use, they mention a plug-in for Gmail to make it easier. Boomerang is available for several platforms, even iOS and Android. There is a free basic version limited to 10 scheduled emails per month, which might be plenty enough for you. Otherwise, you can use the delay in Outlook or Gmail which is built-in. There used to be a program called Boomerang for Yahoo Mail but it is no longer supported or available. These are just a few ways to get an email sent at a later scheduled time. As far as I can tell, Yahoo doesn't have the feature built into their mail, even though they claim that their mail is the best and most fantastic email there is on the planet. Thanks, Bruce. Yes, this crowd is primarily email only, so a poll is not going to work so well. The onus of recording is on whoever sent the original email, also. Editing the hashtag to reply-to-sender seems like the best plan, though I wish there was an automated way to detect this, so that if someone sends an email at one in the morning, someone doesn't have to be up to catch it before the responses happen. Scheduling a post
Marcio
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi,Is there a way of scheduling a post? That is, I want to post something to my group, but I don't want to post it immediately. Maybe later today or even any other day. Just wondering if it's possible at all. ?
Thanks a lot, as always. P.S.: Please, delete the other post with a similar message. Somehow i managed to send it before finishing the email! :/ Cheers, AKA Starboy Sent from a galaxy far, far away. |
