Have you checked the Email Delivery History for that member email address?? Could be that it is/was bouncing.? Some providers accept emails, then deliver them at a later time, too.

Go to Admin>Settings>Files>Permissions and ensure this is set correctly. If it is, you're probably out of space. Basic groups are only allowed 1 GB of storage. See?/g/GroupManagersForum/wiki/Managing-Attachments%2C-Files-and-Photos?for more details.

Adding a File to a newly created group

WVSA Admin

Hi,
I am new to groups.io. I just created 2 groups for my nonprofit, but am having problems uploading files. When I go to the "Files" tab on the left, both the "New Folder" and "Upload File" tabs are not highlighted where I can click on them. Where do I go to give myself (and additional people) these permissions?

Thank you,
Robin

owner not receiving notifications

Hello all. Please forgive me if this has already been discussed, but I just cannot keep up with the volume of messages.

Today I was on the website of one of my groups and noted that yesterday a member left the group. The notification was in the group activity section, but I never received an email notification to one of my email addresses - I have multiple email addresses listed as owners, and one of them did get the notification. I checked the settings, and both email addresses, the one that got the notification, and the one that did not, have exactly the same boxes checked, including notifications in the event someone leaves the group. I have also checked the spam folder and the message did not end up there. I am still receiving group messages to the email address in question.

So, is this just a one time (I hope!) glitch that I should just monitor and only worry about if it becomes an always event, or is there something I can do now to be proactive?

Thanks for any advice and/or help!

Patti

Re: from "email via Groups.io" #bug

Also, it appears that a similar issue is occurring when a person (who usually has the from name as?"email" via Groups.io) replies to a "regularly formatted email" - their reply is not broadcast to the group.

from "email via Groups.io" #bug

We are seeing issues with responding to original messages that have the 'from' name reformatted to: "email" via Groups.io.? Essentially, it appears that certain people in our group when replying to a message with the name formatted in this manner is not getting their reply email broadcast properly to the entire group.

Anyone else seeing this?

Re: Abusive person, how to get rid of him?

Today, the Constitution means little to those who disagree with money to waste and not much more to the judicial system as can be seen in Masterpiece Cakeshop Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission.

I don't think any of our groups would give rise to enough publicity to make it worth the time of an unscrupulous lawyer, but a cautious approach has become justified.

I have no idea what you're trying to say below, but... if a group isn't run
by a governmental entity there's no problem with rules that restrict the type
of speech allowed. And even in a governmentally run group, there's no problem
with insisting that posters be both civil and on topic.

I would be cautious in this person has money he wants to spend. I a group
can make any rules regarding speech so can a business as the "he" could
start a group or business. In today's PC world logic isn't followed.

Just my guess,

Which link are you talking about? Did it appear in a group email?

Groups.io has no affiliation with MicroSoft. You could try following the login instructions found at?/static/help#password, but it sounds very much like Mongenes has a separate web site somewhere, and you're trying to login there.?To have any hope of helping you with that, you will have to provide the web address.

If I click the 'database' button on the Mongenes homepage I get 'page not found message'. ? Please can someone advise me what I am doing wrong.
If the?MonGenes?group has dead links and you're clicking on them, you are doing nothing wrong. The problem is with the site.

I suggest you send this inquiry to [email protected]. The group owner and/or webmaster should be able to address your issues more expediently than anyone here.

Hope this helps,

Re: Abusive person, how to get rid of him?

The first amendment simply says congress cannot make a law limiting freedom of speech. Groups.io groups are not congress. Groups.io is not congress.? As group owners and moderators, we are free to make our own rules and policies regarding what may or may not appear in our groups. We are all free to encourage or enforce whatever level of civility and range of topics we choose for our groups. What I allow in a group may be quite different from what you allow in your group. Trolls are free to be trolls, but they have to find a venue that will accept them. We are not obliged to provide a venue for them.
Best, Marv

Re: Abusive person, how to get rid of him?

Abuse is abuse, and should be stopped. Moderate every new member until you are sure who they are. I Own lots of fully-moderated Groups, because we are technical-advice forums and we deprecate the usual myths, misinformations, and utter rubbish that gets posted and reposted otherwise. We state this clearly in the Group descriptions and we do reject quite a lot of posts (not least because we ask that all previous content is trimmed)
So, the phrase to use is "This is not a Democracy" - and if your unmodded members are repeating posts verbatim, I suggest you put them on moderation too, until they learn not to do that..
Rudeness can be useful, but hate speech and the like are actually unlawful, unpleasant, and un-called-for..?
And, I'm in the UK, so no Amendments apply, but even in the US, you don't have the right to be obnoxious repeatedly, and I always have the right to tell you to get lost

Just to be absolutely clear,? you are not in violation the first amendment. I am one of 2 owners of a group and we researched this subject several months ago. A private group can make whatever rules it wishes around what to allow.

This person is perfectly free to start their own group.

Message edited with mandatory hashtag added doesn't show up? #hashtags

³§³Ù¨¦±è³ó²¹²Ô±ð

Hi,

The group settings are "Hashtags Required" and Bounced if hashtag not in the list.
After sending a mail to the list without hashtag in the subject, it bounces back, with a link /editsubject/somenumber in the message.

So far so good.

But from there, after adding a mandatory hashtag (selected from the pull down list), and hitting Update And Send, I have no idea where the message goes. It doesn't shows up in the Pending list or nowhere.

I tried everything in the test group without success. What am I doing wrong ?

Thank you,

But this one person keeps bringing it up. He is polite but the fact that he has signed up with now 5 different usernames tell me a lot.
Trouble is that everyone who supported me (Owned and Moderator) in this situation includes his message, and does not delete it. He won't move on because he is in the same "hobby" as the rest of us.
The advice to just silence him is good and is working.
