The agent will not join your group on its own.?You, as a YAHOO GROUP owner, MUST send the transfer agent ([email protected]) an invitation.?

If you don't know how to send an invitation, see?? If you are not the Yahoo group owner (or a Moderator with the member invite permissions), then you need to find another subscriber who is.?

Hope this helps,

Thanks, Shal.?

My Yahoo Groups have been very slow the last couple of years. It looks like I was a bit foggy on the process. It¡¯s been a long time since I invited anyone to join.

Re: Your Groups.io Account Is Bouncing

Jim,

I hear you, but lacking a link to what you believe you read elsewhere, I can only go on what the notice from Groups.io said and it said...

"You must take action to restore your account, or we will unsubscribe you from all of the groups you are a member of."

?That's interesting. It is contrary to my understanding of the bounce processing, and is not mentioned in the Help for Bounce Handling. Also, I have members in some of my groups listed as bouncing since the transfer date of the group, last September.?

So I wonder if that's one of those "we reserve the right to" things, where it is seldom if ever done.

Some in the beta group have asked that Bounced members? be eventually removed from their groups. I think a better way to solve the clutter problem would be to display and make sortable a "bouncing since" date. Right now you have to open each individual member to determine how long they've been Bounced.

I'll contact Mark via the support address and ask him to change the wording of the bouncing notice to reflect that Group OWNERS are exempt from unsubscription... if that's indeed the case.

And I'll get back to the group on his response.

?Thanks!

Shal

Folder Upload #folders

I'd like to upload a folder of about 450 files (with subdirectories). Is there a way to do this. Currently I cant find any way but by uploading each file individually.

Accepting the Yahoo group invitation is the longest step in the process (it requires solving a CAPTCHA). In the past, the transfer queue has been as deep as three weeks; by the time Mark returns from his current vacation, it may be even longer than that.

To check status of your transfer, see this message in a recent thread:??/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/23672413#10386

Re: bounced emails

Sandra,

the list that says recent bounces and has messages since July 14 will those get delivered?
?
?Generally speaking no.

The ones with a 4xy code in the Reason column may be retried, and certain 5xy rejections are retried as special cases.

Dan Hartford

Line Feed (for example making a vertical list of items for sale) how to have those linefeed (CR) show up to viewers of the database rather than the entire cell being one long line?

Thanks -- Dan

I sent a new invitation to a non groups.io address and it went through immediately. Is Yahoo screwing with invitations to?[email protected]??

The "transfer process," such as it is, for Google groups consists of your member list only. No messages (or content of linked Google Drives) are transferred; and it doesn't even maintain Moderator status.

As far as I know, it has always been this way.?I haven't seen many people even inquire about it, perhaps because Google Groups isn't foundering as much as Y!G.

You might consider sending a note to [email protected], asking if enhancing this functionality is even an active project. If you do so, please share the response with us so we can pass it along.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

None of my?5 groups?had any of their messages transferred and I wondered why.
?
So I replied back to the support email address that was given. I was told by Mark that Incredimail groups or groups that use stationary, the messages cannot be transferred because nothing will show up.
?
I wrote back to him and told him that the 5 groups I had moved to IO, NONE were Incredimail groups and Incredimail wasn't allowed to be used in any of them.
?
Then I asked can I try again to have the messages transferred?
?
I haven't heard back from? him and it has been over a week. I know he is on vacation now, so maybe when he gets back I will get an answer.

Per the instructions (see second paragraph at /yahootransfer), attachments do not transfer.?

is it possible to bulk delete these messages?
I know of no convenient way to even identify Y!G messages that have lost their attachments in the transfer, much less delete them.

Can you move a message to Files?
Not conveniently, You could select a message, print it to PDF and subsequently upload it. You can also download the entire message archive in mbox format using the backup utility and upload that.

I hope this helps, but it probably doesn't.

Re: Member notices

Besides the "Welcome" notice, Group Guidelines can also be set up to be sent to all new members. Depending on the content of your 3 files, you may be able to use Group Guidelines and Welcome to incorporate all (or most) of that information. I like the Group Guidelines option because it means that basic information remains easily available for someone who deleted or "lost" the first email!

Thanks for your help, Duane.

Apparently, it can be solved by setting the 'mail.strictly_mime' property to 'true' (in Thunderbird: Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Advanced Configuration > Config Editor).

Dear all,

The messages of one of the members of our new group at io fail to deliver. She's using Mozilla Thunderbird and gets delivery failure notices on every attempt. She can login to the group with her email and password though. What can be the cause? How can she solve it?

Given that there is quote a lot of it, what "status" would you then ascribe to it? It seems odd to spend time and effort posting a detailed comment and then nearly saying "don't pay any attention to it".

To add to my previous comment, if my original digging found the right target then the organisation to which the OP referred (now no longer traceable from scratch; I suspect that the original message was later edited to remove a revealing detail) also has a publicly accessible Facebook page. I therefore pose similar questions to that I asked previously; have all the people whose photographs appear on that Facebook page provided written consent for their likenesses to be used, and how often are they required to renew that permission? Have all those whose names appear as having "liked" something also given their permission for their names to be revealed? Have you asked Facebook to provide a facility similar to that you are considering requesting from Groups.io?

At the risk of being accused of repeating myself I am of the view that considering asking Groups.io to provide a technical solution to a problem that your committee has (I think) more or less invented is wholly unreasonable, unless of course you can specify some part of the GDPR (as interpreted in <location redacted>) that will be breached if the capability is not provided.
