If someone didn't respond when they were required to reverify, they wouldn't receive any email either, not just stopped from sending.
?
It would be useful if the owner checked:
- the person's account - In Admin, Members.?

?
What does the activity history say, the email delivery history?
?
-Clarify whether that the member receives email from the group and to that address

- Clarify whether the member can log into the group (perhaps using Email Me A Link To Log In).
- When they are logged in, ask them to check their own subscription - their settings, their delivery history.

- I think the owner said that the member can send messages to the group from the group homepage. And that the problem is sending to the group from their email.
?
- Ask them what email program the member is using. What device, etc. What email service.?

Such an account would not be receiving emails.

Re: Member can only post from site - something about her address?

I know this may be a longshot, however ..... above and beyond it saying to add a subject line, if they are continuing to be blocked from posting (etc), is it possible they had/have one of those addresses that needed to be verified earlier this year and they didn't (for whatever reason) so the end result is that that particular email address is blocked from current/future activity?? How long has this person been experiencing being blocked?

The error message says that her message is missing a subject. "Please include a subject and send again."

Why doesn't she try that to see if it solves her problem?

Re: Adding a group to my subscription

Hi Penny, you have to join the group in order to add a tear subscription.

Any suggestions how to add that group??

In addition, from the site overview page, /groups, you can just click on the group name and be taken directly to the Topics page for that group.

Currently you cannot do that although that facility has been requested before.

Do I need to manually add them in again???
Yes. Or they can try and subscribe and you can approve that (assuming you have restricted membership).

Thank you, Bruce. I'm embarrassed to admit I didn't even know that was available. Another 5 years of membership and I might get there... ;)

This displays all the topics in the all groups he's a member of; if he's subscribed to only one group (yours), it may look similar and perhaps lead to confusion.
?
You'll likely have to do some hand-holding and provide the actual URL of your group's messages page.?

Is it in English or in another language? If the latter, it could be a translation issue. A screenshot showing the left side menu, as Frances suggests, would be useful. Or, if the member doesn¡¯t know how to do that, maybe you could ask them to list the items in that menu. Also, you can tell them that the icon for it is a square with a pencil coming from the top right corner.

Topic says it all. This member says he is not able to introduce a New Topic, even though he has posting privileges.

Re: about special notices

No, that's something they'd have to do in their email program when replying.? I don't think there's anything Groups.io can do about.? Maybe if the reply were made online, but that would be a minority on most groups.? To be clear though, it's NOT actually sent as a Special Notice unless it's sent by an admin of the group.

about special notices

Is there a mechanism to stop ordinary members from replying to a special notice with the [special notice] prefixed still attached, or adding it themselves?

If not, I may suggest it in the <beta> group

Not necessarily.? However, any owner on the main groups is automatically able to see activity on the subgroup and moderators can be given that permission.

This seems unlikely. When someone is approved for a subgroup they are automatically added to the main group. A person can, however, have a different Display Name in the subgroup vs the main group. You need to look for a matching email address, not rely on other data elements.

An issue I raised a while back is that someone can join a sub-group (by invitation or approval of sub-group moderator), and hence a main group, without any awareness by the main group moderatorship (through approval or main group activity log).
?
IIRC, the consensus was that this wasn't seen as a problem, as main and sub-group moderatorships should be the same.

Re: Members of Subgroup have to be members of primary (parent ) group

I believe it's possible to have the mail delivery set to No Mail for the main group and an active delivery option set for the subroup.

But AFAIK, there isn't a way to have a member on a subgroup who's not a member of the main group.? (If there were, I'd prganize my groups and subgroups differently than I do now.)
