Re: Member unable to add a profile

Well, maybe. There are account profiles and group profiles. If he hasn't created a group profile, the account profile will be used. But if he has, he can make changes in his account profile until the cows come home...the profile he previously customized for your group will continue to used. Have him go to?/account?page=profile? At the top, there's a pull-down menu that says "Overall Profile." If he clicks that button and selects your group name instead, subsequent changes should appear in his profile for your group. He can also edit his group profile by finding his own entry in the Directory and clicking the "Edit Group Profile" button. Folks have reported problems updating their profile photo. In particular, deleting your profile photo is problematic, and he may have more luck uploading a blank image of some kind. To the extent that he can be more specific about exactly what he is doing and the problem he's encountered in doing so we will in turn be able to fine-tune our guidance. This field is actually not used on Groups.io so there's no need to set one anyway. Second, do you have subgroups?? If he has already set a value for a subgroup profile then changing the same field at a higher level profile (ie. his account or main group) may not appear to save his changes (depending upon where he is looking to determine the changes are not saved).? He would need to go to the lower level profile and use the reset option to allow values from the higher level to propagate. Regards Andy |

Thanks again, everyone.? I was not aware that I could add a customized invite message.? I have now followed your helpful instructions and done so.
In this case, I have also passed the person on the street and reminded him.? I suspect he has not seen either of the confirmation emails from the group, and may not have seen my personal email to him.? There's only so much you can do (in a basic group). |

You're right.? He applied for membership on the web after I sent him an invitation, which he ignored.-- I wonder whether you have customized the invitation notice. I think it helps. Go to Admin, Settings, Member Notices. Add the Invite notice. Save. Make sure it is active. Frances ? |

Sorry about the confusion.? This is not the first time this has happened, and I'm sure it will happen again.? It presents an opportunity for groups.io to be better:? When someone applies via the web after being sent an invitation, tell them that they will join the group faster if they find and reply to the invitation. |

Re: missing emails
re this particular one - has been constant in blocking over last few months. Nothing I can do when my lists have a few of the subscribers with this address except to advise them to get different address such as gmail, hotmail, or an other that does not go through this company.
I have been in touch with iiNet and they want to know when the delivery attempts were made, they are asking about headers. Would the headers of the messages on the groups home age show delivery attempts, and if so, how can I get the headers. I can't find out how to, in the owners manual. Cheers Win |

According to the manual, Not Confirmed is applied when it is not clear that the member's address is correct. My experience of this is when the invited member opts not to click the <accept> link in the email but then goes to the group URL and applies to join. Unsurprisingly, these two activities are not connected by groups.io (but it does beg a question of whether they could be connected...) and so the usual confirmation process has to be gone through. Response to invitation is marked NotCconfirmed

According to the manual, Not Confirmed is applied when it is not clear that the member's address is correct.
However, when I enter the member's address in an invitation and they reply, how can there be any doubt?? Why is the member flagged NC, and I have to send them a confirmation email, which they must respond to? This behavior makes groups.io look amateurish to everyone. |
