YES she added our group address and posted to groups io? when we were an active AOL group.

Re: QUESTION About joining Groups io

Lavon,

she took our group and added the group to groups io
You've said that several times, but I still don't know what you mean by "took your group". If she's not even a member of your group, in what way did she "take" it?

An external group (such as an AOL group, whatever that is), cannot be a member of a Groups.io group. Only individual email addresses can be added to a Groups.io group.

So that leaves me with the questions I asked before:

Did she add your AOL group's posting address to a Groups.io group?

Did she collect the email addresses of your AOL group's members and
add them to a Groups.io group?

Or did she simply create a Groups.io group with the same name as your
AOL group?
If you don't understand my questions, please ask for clarification.

Perhaps you can describe what happened in greater detail.

Shal

Re: ADDING TO SUBGROUP

Ellen,

Our distribution list has a new member and I am having a problem
putting them into subgroups.
In the Admin group of pages there's a Subgroups page. This is different from the Subgroups page further down, outside of Admin.

In the Admin Subgroups page is a list of your primary group members, and columns for each subgroup. To add (or remove) a member to a subgroup check (or uncheck) the box in the member's row, in the column for the particular subgroup. Then at the bottom of the page click the blue Update button.

You can use the search box at the upper right to find the new member, or sort the table by the Name or Email columns.

This is the part I still don't understand.

What is it that you mean when you say she added your AOL group to Groups.io?

Did she add your AOL group's posting address to a Groups.io group?

Did she collect the email addresses of your AOL group's members and add
them to a Groups.io group?

Or did she simply create a Groups.io group with the same name as your
AOL group?

Without some clarity on exactly what happened I don't know how to advise
you.

This wasn't her group she didn't create it .? It was created by myself and another person and she took it upon herself to add our group to groups io when she was told not to do it not once but twice.? She isn't even in our group she say our ad and saw we? were an AOL group and decided we need to change to groups io? Not her group, not a member and non of her business.

I'm not sure I understand what happened.

Did she create a group at Groups.io, then add your email addresses to that new group? There are two ways that can be done.

One is that she could have Invited all of your email addresses to join the Groups.io group. You're all free to ignore that invitation and you would not then be members of the Groups.io group.

The other is that, if she's paying for a Premium Groups.io group, you may receive a notice that you've been added to her Groups.io group. If so that notice would have contained an opt-out.

She has groups on Groups io and thinks she can dictate to everyone else.

She can have as many groups on Groups.io as she wishes, but that doesn't mean that anyone else has to participate in those groups. If you didn't opt out in the first place, just leave her groups.

Can we report this person so this doesn't happen again?

If you believe that she has violated Groups.io's Terms of Service you can report that to [email protected], but simply adding you to a group wouldn't ordinarily be a violation. It might become a violation if she does it repeatedly in a manner that may be considered harassment or spamming.

But wasn't her group me and another Lady opened it and own it and she tried to sign us up with groups io.? What's to keep anyone from taking your group and doing what they want with it?? Doesn't seem right or fair.

In a word, nothing.? As a new service, Groups.io allows anyone to create any group they wish, as long as the name hasn't been taken.? If folks don't join the group, it may go away eventually, but I don't believe there's a fixed amount of 'idle' time required.

Re: can you schedule a special notice to go out on a specific date and time

Linda,

can you schedule a special notice to go out on a specific date and
time
Not directly.

But you can create an event (in the calendar) for that date and time, and check the "Send Notice To Group When Event Happens (tagged with #cal-notice)" box at the bottom of the Reminders section for that event. Add no other reminders, and select the green "Add Event" button w/o inviting the group.

To make that notice a Special notice, you can use a hashtag with the "Special" box checked. You may not want to check that box in the default #cal-notice hashtag (that would affect notices from all events), but you can add a hashtag of your choosing to the event's "Event Name" field.

That will affect the formatting of the message somewhat.

Along with the default #cal-notice hashtag it will include the day and date in the subject line. It will include the Event Name in the body as a bold text header, and include a "When:" and "Description:" label in bold text.

I've run into this problem too, using files much smaller than that. I don't think there's a size limit per se, but the upload just times out.

See?/g/GroupManagersForum/topic/30953352#16050?for a recent discussion of this.

Re: No attachment/photo icon when composing on web

Thanks Frances and Shal
And yes - edit post is another place I have experienced this.
It seems like there is no solution at the moment but at least you have confirmed that, so I can stop desperately searching the settings list!
If there is ever talk of adding this feature (as per your previous threads) I would definitely vote in favour.
Best wishes

Just HOW do I buy an enterprise license?

I've looked, clicked and searched.? I can't find out how to create an enterprise group.? It seems odd to me that it is so hard to buy the high price service.

What obvious link did I miss?

Are you the Owner of an existing group? All groups start life as Basic, and become Premium or Enterprise as a result of an Upgrade, a process that starts by clicking on the Upgrade tab which is one of those down the left hand side of a Groups.io webpage. If it isn't immediately visible then click on the Admin tab which will expand the list of admin functions. Then proceed as directed...

It might also help you to read the Pricing page, where you will find the 3 types of group described in more detail; each type has a green Start a Group button, but they all lead to the same page.

Chris

Re: Just HOW do I buy an enterprise license

1. Start a group.
2. Go to Admin > Upgrade.
3. Select "View/Change Plan".
4. Click on Upgrade to the right of the plan you want (annual or monthly.)
5. Enter payment information.
6. Click "Upgrade Your Group".

That is actually quite helpful.
I think that's helping
