Re: Email delivery advanced preferences
#subscription
#suggestion
Frances,
?
I am puzzled why someone can select both Special Notices only and Advanced Preferences. ... But shouldn't that not be a possibility? ?
The Email Delivery choices only control group posts that are sent to your subscription address.
?
The Message Selection choices affect that, but also control the message filtering in your /topics home page, and hopefully one day filtered options for viewing messages in individual groups' web pages. Perhaps the text box in that section should mention the web utility these preferences have. Excluding Max Attachment Size, which is only for email. *sigh*
?
?
I seem to have a couple of people (young adept web users) who have selected both these options. ?
They may have just been testing things, or they may actually be taking advantage of the /topics home page to follow multiple groups.
?
?
As I recall, the original reaction (in beta) to the Message Selection options (and Replies) was that they would be intimidating to ordinary users. So not only were they segregated into their own section, Advanced Preferences, but that section was made a drop-open that is closed by default.
?
I could see an argument for moving Max Attachment Size out of Advanced Preferences and up in the Email Delivery section. It really seems to belong there, even if some may think it too "advanced" for novice users.
?
I don't really have a strong feeling about moving (the rest of) Advanced Preferences up ahead of Signature. There is some logic to that, though both those sections apply to posts in both email and web.
?
?
?
I think Mark would thank you for that.

Email delivery advanced preferences
#subscription
#suggestion
Hi
I am puzzled why someone can select both Special Notices only and Advanced Preferences. There is a note saying Please note: If you have selected Special Notices Only, the below preferences will not override that. But shouldn't that not be a possibility? I seem to have a couple of people (young adept web users) who have selected both these options.
And secondly, I wish that Advanced Preferences was more integrated with Email Delivery radio buttons.? Could it be moved up, before Signature, right after Email Delivery? I am asking here to test the waters and get suggestions before I post on Beta. Cheers, Frances

Assuming you actually did move it, check your activity log (Admin->Activity) for a corresponding entry. If you see something like: Display Name <yourname (at) domain (dot) net>?moved file ()?filename?via web Clicking on the file name in the log entry will take you to the file, while the little folder icon will take you to the containing folder. Yes.

In fact there's a special plan for that: "Premium For One Month". It
automatically downgrades to Basic at the end of 30 days, as opposed to
"Premium Monthly" which automatically renews.
?
Click on Upgrade (or Billing if your group is already upgraded), in the
Admin pages, then blue View/Change Plan button to see the available plans.

Re: COX issues
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI use to have this problem. I phone called COX technical support about this issue a few times, and each time they seemed like they were trying to help me with this. They would have to pass this problem off to someone higher up in technical support, because this issue was beyond their abilities to resolve. Ultimately, they never did help me, but they said they did see where the problem was happening. I finally emailed Mark at support about everything I had done, and somehow he was able to resolve the problem. ? Don ? From: [email protected] <[email protected]> On Behalf Of marty_in_mesa ? Hi Anita,
?
I think your member will need to login to??since it appears something has triggered a security block on their account with AOL.
?
That should fix their problem by following the steps provided (if it is indeed a security stop) otherwise she'll need to contact AOL Member Services.

Hope that helps !

Re: Charge to join?
Hi Paul,
I recently migrated a group over from Yahoo Groups, we just use the group for day to day communication between members of a mountaineering club so weren't worried about losing data. The process was quite straightforward to manually add everyone. We have lost a couple of members who I need to remind next time I see them.
Thanks

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Duane, Thanks for your response. I attempted to explain that I would have to add the new member just for her to begin receiving messages. She is older and has difficulty believing that she can send email. If I can't add her, I will tell her that she has to get a family member or friend to send the subscription request.
