The first thing you should do is create a Guideline/Rule of the format to be used, possibly including an example.? That will give you something to enforce.
?
You could also select the option at Admin > Preferences > Settings - Message Formatting to Normalize HTML Emails.? As noted, that removes all the fonts and colors.

If you check the "Normalize HTML Emails" box in group settings, it will strip out most such nonsense. ?/newhelpcenter/manual/ownersmanual/groupsettings/settings_msg_formatting.htm?

I don't think we can help you with that. The only thing you can do is moderate the group and reject any posts with missing information.

Hope this helps,

I don't want to go the route of Google forms because that requires too many steps and would not show up in pending posts.? We do not want to post their information on the group calendar because the group should not be seen as a sponsor. ? TIA. Emily

Re: Welcome message links not working

What a terrific support group this is! (especially for a novice)

Thanks to Bruce Bowman, Duane and Malcolm Austen, the links and some other stuff are cleared up.

Hi everyone!

Thanks for responding to my question.

I just want to report that I figured it out! I removed the member from the subgroup, added them back, and the display name from the main group cascaded to the subgroup.

Cheers!

It's not unusual for Google to make changes while trying to 'improve' things for you, as well as give them access to more of your information.? We may hear more complaints about this if that's what happened.
?
Did you click Add Event & Invite Group on some of the events?? I'm assuming here that you added them online.

A lot of us use Gmail so I don¡¯t think that is the issue - plus why would it crop up now after all this time?
It¡¯s just strange. ?

The easiest way is to delete the link, including the spaces before and after.? The when you type in the new one, everything is changed at once.

Malcolm, thank you. I suspected the problem resulted from the name change.

I¡¯m, obviously, new to this.

I¡¯ve been able to change the message prefix, but don¡¯t know how to change the link targets. I¡¯ll check with someone better versed than I.

Meanwhile, your help is greatly appreciated.

Me again Leah. In my haste to get that last message off before I went out, I failed to mention that you still have the message prefix for the group set to [RWOpera].

You created the group as RWOpera and then changed the name to OperaRW, yes?

?

You changed the welcome message to say (this is just one line of it, of course):

You can visit your group, start reading messages and posting them here:?/g/OperaRW?

BUT you only changed the visible text, the link is still the original --?/g/RWOpera

?

You have to change the link target as well as the visible text. Ditto with the 'editsub' link further down the welcome message.

I load all the trainings for my group the month before they happen onto the calendar and set a 2 day Reminder. This has worked just fine for months. Today a some (but not all) of the events appeared that I had just inputted went out to the members of my group - weeks ahead of time. The odd thing was that they weren¡¯t sent by Groups.io (as far as I could see) but by Google wanting to know if we wanted to put these on the Google calendar.

Can Google Hijack Group.io like that?

Sure, but mail clients vary, when you click on what is in the email below some clients will and some won't include the trailing double quote in the URL.
