Re: Transfer steps
My YG was transferred last night. Since my only working computer is at work right now, I haven¡¯t thoroughly checked everything out, but what I¡¯ve seen so far on my phone looks great.?
One thing puzzles me though. I understand that a G.io account holder¡¯s email address is his/her¡¯s user ID. My YG and G.io display names and primary email addresses were the same....I just realized the answer to my question. I was going to ask why, when I changed the primary email address on my YG account before the transfer so that I¡¯d be transferred with my original join date, my YG membership didn¡¯t transfer over. But while I was typing I realized that since my YG was already in step 3 when I changed my YG email address it was too late. G.io had copied (exported?) my YG prior to my email address change. Is that right? -- Deborah |

True? ?It's my understanding that when an invite comes in to GIO, it's checked against the list of pending transfers.? If it's not on the list, the invite is ignored/tossed.? Of course, I may be totally wrong!? The Detailed Instruction message is based on multiple reports of what works, so best to follow it. Re: What is the new wait time for transferring from Yahoo?
#transfer
No one will be able to predict. But be patient and your group data would be transferred before Yahoo deletes them. Mine stands around 800 for several days.

Re: Claimed pending posts
Io are much better than Yahoo ever were, I just couldn't find a link to email them about problems or bugs.
Yes I have a mod named Wanda, but she has no idea how she claimed them and we have both tried approving the messages with no success. Thankyou for the support email address . I will report it as a bug. Thanks everyone for your help. Sheila |
Re: Detailed Instructions on How to Conduct a Yahoo Transfer
Thanks for the reply, Bruce.
Sorry to have asked again but was unclear whether we could maybe do the invite first, then wait.... So..... One can NO LONGER initiate an invite of [transfer @ groups.io] to his/her YGroup UNTIL AFTER they have UPGRADED their GIO group to Premium in order to have the e-addy ready in their YGroup's membership roster for when they finally do the upgrade to Premium status? Re: Group Settings - Only Moderators Can Post?
But, on the Home Page, where the settings are displayed, the first entry, with a symbol that looks like a megaphone, it says, "Only moderators can post messages." ?I have been unable to change a setting that makes that go away??To change this, go to Admin, Settings. In Spam Control, make sure that Announcement Group isn't ticked. Be sure to scroll down to the bottom of the page and update to save. Shal, could it be this?

Also, that happened to me and it was because the page URL had been changed. The new one is groups.io/yahootransfer. Scroll down to box on right and click your transfer name. Susan B On Nov 2, 2019, at 3:27 AM, Shal Farley <shals2nd@...> wrote: |

There is at least one group where I am a lurking member and don¡¯t want to draw attention to myself. It is easy in the groups I own as I can add myself as many times as I want to with other email addresses and choose which one to use for the mail and set the others to No Email. I have two groups.io email addresses. I use two different browsers so I don't have to login and out when switching between addresses. That is a very good idea and I like it. I have a few browsers on my PC but I rarely use it now. I have only had this Mac for a few weeks and I am still using Safari as my only browser. I will have to add some more. Lawrence |
Re: Mute & Following for Email-Only members
#email
You are right - muting does take you to the website. You need to confirm the muting.
Minimal interaction with the website though. I attach screenshots. However you couldn't unmute easily without going to the website. Email commands to change your subscription, but it doesn't do Advanced Preferences -? To receive plain digests instead of individual messages
To receive full featured digests instead of individual messages
To receive a daily summary instead of individual messages
To receive individual messages instead of digests or a summary
To only receive special messages
If you think most of your members will want to set their subscriptions to Advanced Preferences, you might set that as Default Subscription Preferences - in Admin, Settings, second tab. But then?you?would?have to "follow" messages that interest you.?Clicking on that link brings you to the web. Copying and pasting the link did the trick that refresh didn't and made the "view existing transfer status" link visible. That's helpful advice, thank you!

I have several databases in my group and a few of them have addresses of the members. Each time the database entry of a member is changed, the country disappears. So I have to enter the country name again. The rest of the address remains as it was entered. How can I prevent the country name disappearing?Winnie -- On further examination, I think I have a better understanding of what you could be talking about. The country field in the address edit block is a pull-down menu. You cannot type in a country here, you have to select it from the menu. If you later go back to change a previously entered address, the country does not display in the edit window; but it is still there, hidden behind the pull-down. It has not "disappeared," and there is no need to re-enter it. At least that's the way things behave on this end. If I'm totally off base please let me (and the support address) know, because that would be an actual bug. If this behavior bothers you and you do not need Map View for anything my previous suggestion of changing the data type still applies.? Regards, Bruce |

We have a closed group and, for the first time, I had a new member apply for membership, and while in the process of vetting him, I found that the system had approved him. As it turns out, I went in to approve him and found this, so no harm - no foul I guess, but it worries me. There are two of us in that management loop, but I checked with the other guy and he had not even been in the system.Bill -- It's not necessary to enter the system to approve an application. All you have to do is reply to the notification message, which is easy to do without realizing it. Open that user's record in the Member List and click the Activity History button at the top of the page. That will tell you what really happened. Bruce |
