At the bottom of this screen, there is a link to Plans. And at the bottom of that page, it says what counts in your storage limit. And it shows what the storage limit is if you pay for an account.?

I think it is like a webpage where you can put information that can be useful to the group, it is like a website in itself.

if you set up a wiki page to store something does that mean it then doesnt take space up on group so keeps your storage down, may sound silly but wasnt sure what wiki was for

jackiep,

i understood that members couldnt make the no mail choice, i think its best if they cant as get more out of group if join in so will be interested to see reply

In the Message Policies section of each group's Settings page there's a "Disable No Email" checkbox for group admins that feel the way you do. Of course, the members can still choose Special Notices.

Re: 1 GB limit and removing stuff to make more room?

dankaduna,

... is the 1 GB limit a monthly use limit, or does it mean that all attachments ever posted to a group count towards the limit?
?
As ken mentioned it is the total.? His suggestion to set a size limit on the photos (in the Features section of your group's Settings page, under Photos) can go a long way to reducing the storage cost of the photos. Whether that is appropriate in your group might depend on what your members use the photos for.

And in that case, how do I delete photo and other attachments so that I don't keep reaching the limit?
?
In the Message Formatting section of your Settings page there's an "Out of Space" option that you can set to Delete Old Attachments automatically to make room for new ones. Otherwise I think you end up having to manually delete them from the individual messages.

Hi Adrien,

Firstly, on the members list, how do I make a member a moderator?

?

Click on the member's row, anywhere except the checkbox, then change the Role setting.
?

Secondly, how do I set-up my group to send out the monthly files to send out the rules etc?

?

Not as files here. Use either a Member Notice of type Guidelines or a calendar entry.

Yes. They can send an email to YourGroupName+help and they will be sent a list of the available email commands.

Or you can point them to this section of the Help page:

Re: 1 GB limit and removing stuff to make more room?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

It's a total storage limit and most of the time it is photos that are oversized that are the culprits.? Many, maybe a majority of internet users do not crop or reduce the size of photos.? In groups.io you can put a limit on the size of photos embedded in messages or loaded into files and photo sections.? An actual size limit would be more useful as photo types, bitmap vs. jpeg, also makes a big difference.? Set up photo size limits for photos and photos in messages (I set the latter for about 500x500, only 25% the size of storage allowed in the photos section).

Re: Transferring to a subgroup #subgroups #transfer

Thanks Shal. The procedure makes sense.

I guessed that moderator and ownership might be inherited by subgroups, but I wanted to be sure.

And I apologize for the sloppy terminology "join list" for the subgroups direct add. I know full well that sloppiness like that makes a hard job harder. What can I say? It was a fuzzy head after a long day is the truth but not an excuse. Best, Marv

Hello Adrien,

?

To make someone a moderator, go to members under the Admin section.? After you click on members, click on the member you want to make moderator.? You will see a section about half way down the page after you click on the member that says role.? Click on the down arrow, select moderator, go to the bottom of the page and save.

?

As for repeating every month group rules, I believe that has to be schedule through the calendar.? Someone else can probably help you better than I can with that.

?

Doug

I can get the Yahoo invitation to go out, but only by first refreshing the invitation page. Your mileage may vary.

Are you certain of that? Perhaps it was delivered to your spam folder,
or some other location of your email service's choosing.
Thanks. It was not in spam. I was also asked to allow it and the sender first.

Another possibility is that the hashtag you used has the No Email option
checked. That would prevent email distribution of the message.
The hashtag didn't have that checked. Or any other of the options. Plain vanilla.

Was it the same hashtag?
Yes
