traveling

Kathryn Gold

Hello,

My husband and I love to take cruises, as well as other types
of travel, which we do often.

Whenever I go on a cruise I take my Braun hand blender, a
large plastic cup (into which the end of the blender will fit), some
maple syrup, some pumpkin pie spice. Then, when the room
steward comes to meet us and asks us what special requests we
have, I tell him/her to make sure that each night there is one cup
of low-fat cottage cheese and a banana in our room. The
cruise lines pride themselves on being accommodating, and they
are. I bring my oil with me and keep it in the refrigerator which
is in my cabin. This way I can always have my fso/cc mixture,
even while traveling.

When I used to drive cross country frequently, I never carried
anything to drink (I didnt want to have to stop for potty-breaks
in between gas stops), so I always took fresh cabbage, snap peas,
and celery with me. It gave me sustenance, as well as water. It
was cool and refreshing, and crunching on it made it easier to stay awake.
Then I could just use the bathroom whenever I stopped for
gas. (I was really into seeing what good time I could make and
gas mileage too). Also, be sure to use a pillow in the small
of your back (lumbar region) when you are travelling. I used
to always visit a chiropractor right after a trip, until a friend told
me about supporting my back. If I dont have my small lumbar
cushion, I just roll up my jacket or a sweater and stuff it behind me.
Makes a BIG difference.
