UV9R Speaker Mic fault
I have a speaker mic connected to my UV9R. This is it:
It's been working fine for several months, but recently when I turn on the radio, it immediately starts? transmitting and none of the buttons on the radio are responsive. If I disconnect the speaker mic, the radio operates normally so I am assuming that the issue is with the radio mic. Has anyone seen this before, or does anyone have tips on how to troubleshoot?? I have raised a query with Baofeng customer support (In the UK) , does anyone know how good or otherwise they are? 73 Paraic EI9IRB |

I have a UV5RHP that would not program out of ham band and I wanted to monitor the EMS and dispatch channels for my ambulance service.? I bought programming software and a cable.? I simply put in the channels in.? I programmed the ham channels I wanted, put in the NWS channels, and I think I put in a few VHF-FM marine channels to monitor too.

Maybe that's only part of the story? I have one of the old ones. I also have some BF-888's that can be made to operate out of band. The packaging said they were license-free. I thought they were FRS radios. They were cheap, something like $30 for 2 with all the accessories. They can be put on the 440 ham band, also FRS, GMRS, and even other frequencies. I'm sure they're no longer allowed to sell them in the US, but they're a great way to have a radio for FRS that transmits way more power than an FRS radio is supposed to. Evening Maynard,

LOL — either we have a failure to communicate or our RF is in different dimensions. I am stupified my step-by-step instructions worked, and with only one save
?
As you've seen, Bill, AB1LZ, provided the secret, viz., the 2nd time you save, the XMIT freq must be in the upper register. NOW, it is saved to a channel and the display shows + - ! Im writing all this down and may publish a book for clowns, like me, how to program a Baofeng?
?
I also downlopaded CHIRP and will conquor it...

Thanks for all your help.

Re: NO SFT-D SAVING MEMORY CHANNEL
开云体育Hi, Phil, ? I did exactly what you wrote below and it worked fine. I stored it to an empty memory location and the offset direction and frequency were both as specified. I used the frequency you did just in case there was something special about that and it behaved no differently from the ones I already have stored. I didn't have to SAVE twice, though. ? I get tangled up sometimes if I forget where I am in the sequence of keystrokes. I think MENU > number > MENU > change > MENU > confirm > EXIT and I get along ok most of the time. I tend to forget the third MENU entry and that eliminates the change I am trying make. ? 73, ? Maynard W6PAP ? ? ? ? On Thursday, December 01, 2022 08:42:19 PM Phil, WF3W wrote:

Re: NO SFT-D SAVING MEMORY CHANNEL
Gday Maynard,
?
Thanks for your reply!
?
Forgiver me but, I remember something about saving twice but it isnt working, although the rig says receiving or transmitting freq after each save.
?
Here's what Im doing:
?
?
Enter the receive freq, in VFO mode, in top register - 224.580
?
Go to MENU item 27 and DELETE any channels to which I will assign, new, info
?
Go to MENU item 25, SFT-D, enter DOWN
?
Go to MENU item 26, OFFSET, enter 1.600
?
Goto MENU item 27, MEM-CH, enter a deleted channel number and SAVE
?
??????? item 27, MEM-CH, and SAVE a 2nd time
?
?
I cant figure what Im doing wrong but, sometimes, the nice lady says CONFIRMED instead of rcv or xmit freq
?
I have experimented with setting OFFSET to OFF, - and +... no joy
?
I checked MIKLOR but found no info on what Im, specifically, doing incorrectly?
?
Ive tried reversing rcv & xmit freq, adjusting OFFSET to the opposite sign, with resulting copious tears?
?
I am eager to learn how I can be worthy of an Extra-class license, again!

Re: NO SFT-D SAVING MEMORY CHANNEL
开云体育I have three Baofengs: UV-S9, UV-S9PLUS, and UV-5R and they all retain SFT-D in the memories whether set for positive, negative, or OFF for simplex. ? The user manual I received with the UV-5R is more detailed than those received with the others and it provides two methods for setting the offset. I discussed these in a previous thread here. The first method involves setting both receive and transmit frequencies and the second involves setting the receive frequency (transmit from the repeater's standpoint) and SFT-D. ? I was having trouble with the first method until a friend pointed out that it yields the correct transmit and receive frequencies during operation only if SFT-D is set to OFF or OFFSET is set to zero. ? I haven't checked whether or not the two frequencies specified in the first method are retained when stored in memory, but when I specify SFT-D directly, it is retained and can be recalled and used. I don't know whether this will help with your problem, but I'm throwing it out here in case it might. ? 73, ? Maynard W6PAP ? ? ? ? ? ? ? On Wednesday, November 30, 2022 02:49:29 PM Phil, WF3W wrote:

Re: Baofeng UV82 programming cable
开云体育Dan, ? This is the exact cable that I got from Banggood (same name cable being sold by Aliexpress), and have used it with two Baofengs (different models) now and one other (done for friend) ? It handles the largest range of HT’s, including multiple brands) ? No redirections / no affiliate links ? As it correctly says in not so good English is that it does not come with the Radio programming software (e.g. Chirp) ? The unit (at the time) uses a CH340 Serial chip (built into the cable) and the main issue is getting Windows to load the right driver (you need to get it from a site, which I can provide). ? Once loaded you can use any applications with it that communicate over a serial connection which includes Chirp and similar products supported by the Radio Manufacturer. ? The one thing I do note is that you are using Windows XP, and whilst I am one for stretching hardware/OS as far as they can go, particularly when you are working with hardware interfaces (FTDI etc), you are going to struggle to get it working with systems like Windows XP. It might be that your existing cables are usable, but the drive is failing on Windows XP. ? I also appreciate that we all do not have a lot of disposable income to continue buying the latest and greatest, but their comes a time when your time is more valuable (and in some cases too short) where the economics means at least upgrading to a second hand laptop or small desktop capable of running Windows 10 (ignore the Deck Chair mover Windows 11), as old used ex gov desktops can be picked up for Approx $20 and a laptops for approx. $100 with the windows 10 sticker still on it.. ?
