Invalid Tuning Step - CHIRP Programming
A friend brought me a UV-5R8W to program. He wants to listen only to a couple UHF frequencies including 468.99875 and 461.81125. I can program these in manually, but when trying to program using chirp so I can add names, etc. I get an error that says "Invalid edit: Unable to find a supported tuning step for 468.998750". As I was able to program them manually, I got the job done, but can only add channel names via chirp, so they won't program completely.
?
Is this a chirp problem or a radio problem?
?
Thanks,
Michael

If he needs that 10W output to hit his repeater well enough to be understood, and he buys the "10W" HT, he is now stuck with an HT that doesn't do what he needs, though it SEEMED by the specs that this SHOULD have 2.5X the output of his older 4W HT. Re: Best triband Baofeng
I own UV-5X3, AR-5RM, and recently acquired a BF-F8HP PRO. Each of these HTs have done a fantastic job on the 1.25-Meter band on both sending and receiving.
?
For Mobile/Base operations, the BTech UV-25X4 are great rigs on 220. The only downside is the clicking sounds you hear between 220 and both 144 and 440 bands if you happen to scan all three bands.

Re: 23 cm coverage
I was getting ready to ask something similar.? So far I haven't found any but would love a 23cm HT, especially at Baofeng prices.? I believe Wouxun makes a 4m HT for the UK and EU markets.? Haven't seen one of those in the Baofengs yet.? Do they even make an HT which covers 6m?? Wouxun does.

Re: Best triband Baofeng
Thanks, will have to check into it.? There are so many different Baofengs coming out you can't keep up with all of them.

Thanks for the reply.? Is that the M-5R or the 5RM?? I have seen the 5RM before at good prices.? Never seen an M-5R yet.? Had a 5RM+ a while ago, it only covers 2m and 70cm, not all three like the 5RM.? You have to pay attention to the model numbers, still for a dualbander it is pretty good.? Only sold it because I got a heck of a deal on an original UV5.

few months and it seems to work well. I used it for a QSO through a 1.25 meter repeater yesterday and got a good signal report. I don't have any measurements to report, just that I am satisfied with the performance. It's a Baofeng M-5R. My older unit is an UV-S9T and it also works very well on all three bands. I have two that cover the 1.25 meter band. One I have had for just a few months and it seems to work well. I used it for a QSO through a 1.25 meter repeater yesterday and got a good signal report. I don't have any measurements to report, just that I am satisfied with the performance. It's a Baofeng M-5R. My older unit is an UV-S9T and it also works very well on all three bands.
