Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese

From reading your post again, I think you are using the RT system program, that is probably why you cannot load the .data file into it as that may have a different file extension, I don't know if this is the case as i dont have the RT system program for this radio, I will attach the Baofeng version of the software to this post, install that and then give it a try with the .data file I uploaded.

Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese

the file extension .RDT is associated with the baofeng DM1701, are you actually using the CPS for the DM32 or are you using the RT software for it?

Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese

Maybe when I attempted to install RT SYSTEMS version of the software, it gave me new firmware.

This radio is inexpensive enough, I can buy a new one if need be.

This is like putting a baby back together after it's been put in a blender to abort it.

Sorry about the disgusting reference but it seems apt.

Re: UV-32 And Any Interesting "Programing" Entry Items?

Donald, Yes The "Legacy" UV-5 Radios Could Do 220 but at only about 1 Watt, but that is not the main Point as Hams, Its Exploring The Hardware Circuitry and even the Firmware, yes way back then the RU Boys did a interesting Dump of the UV-5's Firmware which was extremely Informative as to how the Hardware was Operating, unfortunately it was in Russian, no problem for me as it explained the whole concept of the "CHIP".
The Interest in the New Super Cute Looking UV-32 is that it was listed as a "TRI" Band Radio and the radios still come with the Firmware Ver 0.29 Hardware Ver 1.00 AND I Was Abel to Get Them for $25 Each Delivered, Yes The Radio The Battery, Charger,Antenna, GPS and Bluetooth for $25 each. An easy low cost to my "Collection" since the (DMR Radio) "Sister" DM-32 is still in the $60-50 range.
What are Your Thoth's about the UV-32 "Bargain"?

Baofeng 1701 charger

Here is a mod for the desk charger supplied. It uses the TP5100 lithium battery charger module. ?I sliced off the portion of the original pcb leaving the input socket and battery connectors on the board held by 2 of the original screws. ?I removed 2 electrolytic capacitors and 2 surface mounted resistors and cut the track as shown in the photos. ?One of the surface mounted resistors is removed from the TP5100 and the SET is bridged with solder?to give 8.4 V output. ?Placing the TP5100 as shown allows the blue and red light (full charge and charging) to be seen through the original window. Charging time reduced and takes any input from 10 to 18 V dc .

Re: UV-32 And Any Interesting "Programing" Entry Items?

I have one also from that era. Aside from allowing transmit outside the ham
bands, what does it have to offer over the newer, compliant ones?

Can it do 220 MHz?

Anything it can do outside our bands would probably benefit from a low pass
filter.

Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese

You dont need to press the transmit (ptt) key to upload a code plug, you only need to press these buttons when you update the firmware,,,, firmware and code plug are different, the code plug is the list of channels to write to the radio, firmware is to update the radios firmware that changes the way the hardware in the radio works, the firmware will end in .bin the code plug for the DM32 end in .data, you only need to load the .data file in the programming software (CPS), different Baofeng radios have different extensions, some are .dat, .rdt, accps and many others, again, you only need to put the .data file in the DM32 software.
?
Just remember, chirp does not work with any Digital DMR radio, not even on the analogue section.

Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese

I didn't see the answer to Martin Howard's question.?

This may be the reason I'm having problems. I've been trying to use the program without pressing the transmit and also the one below it as I turn the radio on to upload the code plug.?

FWIW, that thread is fairly current. There are several posts in there that are
less than a month old, one only 11 days ago, so you might work your way into the
subject and see if you can learn something there.

I only have one Baofeng, a UV-5R. It's a "legacy" model before they made changes
mandated by the FCC to prevent using it out of band, as I understand it. All I
know for sure is that it works, it programs easily in CHIRP (and/or RT Systems),
etc.

Re: Dm32uv won't change from Chinese

I saw the photos but the only one i recognised was the blue cog icon, that is the settings, ?the only thing i can suggest is to load a codeplug into the Dm32 software, then go to the option feature on the left of the software, then the tab called other, click that, change the language to English there, then write to the radio.
?
I have uploaded the original codeplug from the radios that is installed when you receive them to wetransfer the link is here write this to the radio and see if it will switch the language back to english, this link will only last 3 days.
