Frederick Bender; b: 16 August 1863
I an searching for the family of the above Frederick Bender, believed to be from the Stuttgart area, because we have a photo of him dated 1873 with a Stuttgart address on the back ()
The family as told by the family stories are shown in FamilySearch Family Tree at Father - Johann Bender Mother - Sophia Pfeiffer Uncle - Georg Pfeiffer Sister - Klara Bender Sister - Helen Bender He is believed to have emigrated to America at about age 17 (~1880). Possible DNA connections (23 to 44 cM) lead to Mittelschefflenz (Mosbach), Stockheim (Brackenheim), Schallsingen (M¨¹llheim), and Neckarsulm. |

Re: Familien Namen - Kraus, Halbherr, Mayer, Rei?????er , Butscher, Edler, Schmid of W????rttemberg
Hi Elizabeth,
What information on Sofie are you referring to? I did a quick search for any children of Karl and Anna Maria to see if there was any more information. Nothing. Then I logged on with my FHC Director's ID and the following came up (attached). Apparently the index of these data are restricted to LDS church members. If I attach these records they will be logged to Marilyn Liesmann (my FHC director). Do you want me to attach these records and do further searching? ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHello Fred
This is a very belated response to your most informative response to my
enquiries over a year ago. My apologies, but going through my spam folder over
the past couple of days ¨C I¡¯ve found it!
?
Thank you so much for your advice and assistance. It is very much
appreciated.
?
As far as I know the family is Catholic and has been indefinitely.?
Unfortunately this and the family choice of religion makes my research more
challenging as you state.
?
However, I note that you have information on Sofie, which I do not have.
Please could you provide me with more details e.g. an attachment and/or
source.
?
Any further assistance is much appreciated.
Thank you.
Kind regards
Elizabeth

W??rttemberg ?
Elizabeth, You know you are near the beginning of the available records in much the Wurttemberg area because of the (1618-1648). The 30-Years War was between the Catholics and Protestants where each were rampaging the region burning each others churches (and records). Where records do exist there may be a gap in that period making it difficult to go further back with accuracy. The earliest possible records would be circa 1550, when the churches (both Catholic and Protestant) started recording the BMD records for common man. If you can make a connection to royalty you may be able to go further back. ? I see some of those people are indexed in the databases at FamilySearch, but there is no linkage to a FS Family Tree. I've started your family at FS FT for you with Karl Kraus and Maria-Anna Halbherr. See FSFT ID = What was the religion of the family? The daughter of Karl and Maria Anna, Sofie, was baptized in the Evangelische (Lutheran) Church in Kirchberg (OA. Gerabronn). Her marriage was also recorded the same church in Kirchberg, but was solemnized in Stuttgart. Apparently none of the other children were Evangelische, nor was their marriage. Did Sofie change religion?? There is no marriage in the Evangelische Church in Zwiefalten for Karl and Anna Marie. The Catholic record microfilms for Unlingen, Gauingen, and Zwiefalten are all digitized, however none are indexed. The digitized microfilms are restricted and may only be viewed at an LDS Family History Center. History of Birkenfeld, Baden-Durlach.
Hello, all :)
My ancestors from Baden-Wurttemberg - the families of Hans WESSINGER (b. between 1601 and 1610)), Abraham WOLFINGER (b.1624) and Michael WENTZ (b.1597) - were from the town of Birkenfeld. Has anything been written about Birkenfeld (or the whole of Baden-Durlach) in the period 1575 to 1625?? Thank you for any help given. -- Kelly Paul Graham |

Daniel WESSINGER, born 1717 in Birkenfeld; marr. Margaretha ROTH
My ancestor, Daniel WESSINGER was born (or baptized?) 4 March 1717 in Birkenfeld. He married Margaretha ROTH, and died 23 July 1774 in Birkenfeld. A son, Johann Jacob WISSINGER,
was born in Birkenfeld on 23 February 1745. Are there any clues to Daniel's parents? Could he have been related to the WESSINGERS of Durlach? Also, are there any clues to the parents of Margaretha ROTH? -- Kelly Paul Graham |

Re: Obergrombach, Baden
No, the paper records start in 1656, but some records are missing (baptisms 1708-1710, marriages 1702-1717, deaths 1694-1716). Seems like not all of the records were digitized.
There is a local family book containing information on over 4000 families from Obergrombach, but it's only available in some libraries in Germany. Additionally, there are some other publications on the history and families of Obergrombach. None of them is digitized, unfortunately.? |
