Re: Battery drain

I may be repeating myself, but if you’re near an Apple store, I’d take it in.

Is anyone else having similar problems? My DH's 5S needs replacing. He usually inherits mine when I upgrade. But I don’t want to give him a problem iPhone.

My iPad Pro's battery seems to function same as pre upgrade. The problem for me seems to be restricted to the 7.

??Thanks to those sharing ideas.

I've already updated to the latest version of 13, rebooted several times and went through Settings to turn off location services for most apps. ???I don’t stream on Books, just read what I have downloaded. ?I keep brightness turned low.

This accelerated drain has been going on for days. ?So I’d think any background updating of photos, etc. should be finished. ?Yet in the last three hours with only maybe 10 minutes total of use, the battery is already down 11%.

As suggested in the article Pat sent (many thanks) I’ve just turned off lift to wake. ?Maybe that will help.

Thank you for advising us about the cause of your issue. When I had gotten an iPhone 6 a couple of years ago I had a similar issue. I used iTunes to activate and restore from an iPhone 5 that had the newest iOS version. The new phone didn’t. I ran into the same problem. I would have thought they would have resolved that glitch a long time ago by notifying us with a prompt to update.?

Re: Battery drain

Cathy, shy would Books be a big drain, unless you are streaming? I listen to downloaded books daily, and while they drain the battery, they do it much shower that email, surfing or navigating.

As with any new OS, have you gone thru your setting and prefs to reset them. A new OS tends to turn things on to take advantage of new iCandy, uh I mean features.

Re: Battery drain

Hi Cathy.? Normally, if my phone starts doing something that I think it shouldn't, I perform a "forced re-start".? On the 7, you press and hold both the "down volume" and "power" buttons on your phone until the "Apple" logo appears.? This will take a few seconds.? Follow this link, and scroll down to the iPhone 7 instructions :

It's not a bad idea to do a forced re-start after an update, as a general rule.

Hope this?helps,
Ken
