I hope you were you able to return it for a refund.

I take it that this needs to be 2-way, i.e., microphone and head/earphones??

It might be easier to get a BlueTooth headset. There are many too choose from.

They are limited in output voltage but have excellent frequency response and low distortion. There might an issue using them into loads with very low impedance, however.

You have to pay extra - a lot extra - to get one where the audio capacitors are sufficiently large in value to pass low bass.? If you look at the size needed, two of them won't fit in a little dongle, it will take something bigger.? It is almost simpler to use bluetooth with the setting above, but again be careful - the cheap adapters are severely high pass filtered.? We use a very high end bluetooth one for broadcast.? Fortunately, FM is high pass filtered at the exciter and most stations don't go below 50 Hz, unless the engineer has hacked them for more bass.? It is sure nice carrying our entire library into the station on one phone, instead of lugging totes of CD's like we used to.? Oh the joys of brokered time!??

Again - the Apple engineers could give us 20Hz to 20 kHz if they wanted to.? They don't and I am surprised hip-hop fans and movie fans haven't been complaining!? They may not be audiophiles in the strict sense, but both application demand the same thing - low bass.? It would be extremely nice if we had a 20Hz to 20 kHz flat option in that sound EQ section.

I use Bose QC-35 (I know they are old), and get decent response but not 20 Hz to 20 kHz.? My daughter got me a pair of premium Apple over the ear headphones that seem really good.? Don't know what they are called but she knows not to give me trendy overpriced garbage.? I haven't taken them to the station to do a rigorous test.? But low bass seems to be there.? I will let you know.? As far as the high end, only little children can still hear to 20 kHz, I am probably topping off about 12 kHz.? FM rolls of before 15 kHz, so I don't care about the really high end - the listeners will never hear it.? But it needs to be there because low frequency instruments have overtones and if you attenuate the high end the instruments will sound wrong.??

EVERYNODY hates audiophiles!? If there is something off, we notice it.? And Apple has abandoned audiophile sound to sell earbuds.? When I grew up, a six transistor radio reproduced 300 Hz to 4 kHz in a shirt pocket sized unit.? For a while, we had really good walkmans that reproduced everything you could put on a cassette and worked with audiophile headphones that COULD reproduce it.? Along comes compressed music and earbuds.? Bass is once again limited to about 300 Hz through them and it SUCKS.? 60 years and no progress in portable music reproduction.? Except for an era when it was manufactured.? Now we have backtracked and a whole generation thinks compressed music through earbuds is good quality sound reproduction.? I should hand them a 60's transistor radio and ask them which sounds better.??

A surgeon of my acquaintance, now sadly deceased, made a very good living from Gender re-assignment surgery

If I was able to solder these wretched fiddly plugs I would? make my own

The other problem is? NOT knowing which connectors in the plugs were for audio.
