Re: USB to 3.5mm adaptor

You have to be very careful with these things - if you are an audiophile and expect low bass, or you are watching action movies and expect low bass for the action sequences, you won't get it.? There are some things you can do to help - like going into the Sounds and Haptics / Headphone safety and turning OFF reduce loud audio,? ?Then go into Settings / Music / EQ ad select "Loudness".? That seems to reverse the idiocy related to earbuds and gets you something closer to the way it used to work with the headphone jack.? 32Hz, which is common in action movies, is still not quite back where it should be, and there won't be much below that.? But it isn't awful.??

I sure wish Apple would concentrate on sound quality in of of these iOS updates, bring it back to the experience you used to get through the headphone jack.??

Back to these little adapters - none of the changes I mention above will help - these little adapters are severely high pass filtered.? You have to pay extra - a lot extra - to get one where the audio capacitors are sufficiently large in value to pass low bass.? If you look at the size needed, two of them won't fit in a little dongle, it will take something bigger.? It is almost simpler to use bluetooth with the setting above, but again be careful - the cheap adapters are severely high pass filtered.? We use a very high end bluetooth one for broadcast.? Fortunately, FM is high pass filtered at the exciter and most stations don't go below 50 Hz, unless the engineer has hacked them for more bass.? It is sure nice carrying our entire library into the station on one phone, instead of lugging totes of CD's like we used to.? Oh the joys of brokered time!??

Again - the Apple engineers could give us 20Hz to 20 kHz if they wanted to.? They don't and I am surprised hip-hop fans and movie fans haven't been complaining!? They may not be audiophiles in the strict sense, but both application demand the same thing - low bass.? It would be extremely nice if we had a 20Hz to 20 kHz flat option in that sound EQ section.??
