A bit of a long-over due update:
The last demonstrator received here was Yutong decker 38880 (UU11 DDD) left here at the start of November, having been trialled both at Olive Grove depot (on the 51) and Doncaster depot (on the X78).
The Volvo/MCV decker previously trialled at Olive Grove (39601 - BV23 NNT) returned here last weekend for use at Doncaster on shuttle services connected with the return of the "Flying Scotsman" to Doncaster where it was built.? This (the bus, not the Flying
Scotsman) has now moved on loan to First York, which has allowed York's Electroliner 36515 (MF23 ZWC) to come on loan for trials in Sheffield on the 51 route.
All the ex Southampton Streetlites are now in Sheffield 'blue' with the exception of 63052 (SK63 KJJ) which has had a blue front/rear added over its former red livery and branding for the Royal British Legion.
Volvo B7RLEs 69440/2 (WX59 BYS/U) are also now in Sheffield blue, with I gather 69438/9/41 and the ex Leeds Streetdeck (35211) also in line for a visit to the paintshop.

Further new E400MMCs to enter service at Holbrook are 11708 (YX73 PDY), 11710 (YX73 PEO) and 11712 (YX73 PFD). The entry to service now of 15 of the 20 expected E400MMCs has started the cascade of vehicles out of Holbrook.? E400 Hybrids 12170/2/7/8 are at Chesterfield, with more to follow, and E200MMCs 37610/11 moving to Barnsley, again with more to follow. Ian |

Yep, many routes across SY decimated in an evening and Sunday.? And where they do run they're not ideal - i.e. First and Stagecoach both running within minutes of each other on 120s, then a big gap until the next pair come along.? 2 services through Harthill (21 and X54) both on 2-hourly frequencies but run within 12 minutes of each other.? Appreciate the operators are limited what they can do due to the funding cuts from SYMCA, but it's not great. Add in concessionary fare increases for young adults/teens and removal of the ?2 cap on the trams (increases to ?2.80 from 1st November) and it's not a great time to be a public transport user in South Yorkshire at present. Stagecoach Manchester to Yorkshire
Following some confusion, the identities of the 11 E300s acquired from the (now defunct) Stagecoach Wigan operations are 27207/8 (SL64 HYV/W), 27229-33 (SK15 HFR/S/T/U/V), 27236/7 (SK15 HFY/Z) and 27824/5 (MX62 LSY/TJ). 27207/8 and 27231/2/6 are in use at Chesterfield.? 27233 and 27824 are in use at Barnsley, as is 27237 fresh from repaint in to the latest livery.? 27229/30 and 27825 are for Barnsley once repainted. Now for the confusion... 27235 (SK15 HFX) also came over to Yorkshire for repaint in to Bee Network livery and return to Manchester.? It has however seen temporary use at Barnsley until space was available for it to be painted. Ian |

Hi all Volvo B7L demonstrator 69700 (BV72 KPF) has returned to Volvo. The next electric demonstrator to have arrived is a Yutong decker, which carries the (for show, presumably as does not pull on DVLA) registration plates UU11 DDD.? Unsure what it's true identity is. Also arrived at OG are are Volvo B9TL/Wrights 36279/80 (BD12 TDU/CJ) from First Manchester, which are due to be followed by B7RLEs 69529/31 (BD11 CFJ/FE) and 69537/8/9 (BF63 HDN/U/O). Ian |

Coach fire
Yesterday evening, a coach carrying the Barnsley FC football team home from Exeter caught fire. It was stated on the club web site that the "coach suffered complication".? Everyone is on board is safe. The coach is believed to be a Wilfreda Beehive example. It was difficult to tell after seeing some of the footage online. Tony |

First SY BZL demo
If you were thinking of heading out today or over the weekend to sample the BZL demo (69700 - BV72 KPF) I probably wouldn't bother.? Due to the lack of any rapid charging infrastructure at Olive Grove and thus the amount of time needed to fully charge it, it is generally only used 2 days per week - usually Tuesday and Thursday. Gather it will be here at least for the next week or so before it goes back.? It'll be followed in mid-October by a Yutong decker, then a Yutong single decker and an E400EV (all subject to availability).? Gather one of the Electroliners and GB Kites recently delivered elsewhere in First are also to be trialled in Sheffield in due course. Ian |

Arriva Yorkshire / Merseyside vehicle swaps
Hi all Due to age restrictions on the Arriva Merseyside fleet a swapping of vehicles between Yorkshire and Merseyside is underway. These are being replaced with 16x older VDLs from the Merseyside fleet: CX58 EWB/D/E/F/G/H/K/J/O/P/R/S/T (Merseyside fleet no's 2689/91-7/2900-4), CX58 EXL (2919) and MX09 EKW/Y (2939/40). The latter 2 have the Pulsar II style bodies and I gather they are to become AY 1448/49 (taking the 2 spare numbers between the recently arrived ex North East vehicles and the native batch).? The 58 plate examples have the earlier Pulsar style bodies and as such are to be numbered 1420 upwards, though unsure on the exact order. Ian |
