Re: Bluprint/Craftsy death

I agree. there is plenty of time. However, don't be surprised if they are unable to do it. I don't know what their contracts with their instructors are but if rights revert back to the instructors then they have to get agreement from them to allow downloads and some instructors might want to retain the content and not make if available.?

I am an optimist but I am also a belt-and-suspenders type person so I am planning to download the really important classes while waiting for them. Others that I can do without, I will wait to see what they come up with.

Re: Bluprint/Craftsy death

p.s. I should add that their track record isn't all that great. When they first started, you could download classes. They took that away with no notice to anyone. A lot of yelling and screaming on Ravelry finally got them to provide a link and 2 weeks to download classes for those who had bought them prior to that announcement. If you weren't in the loop, you missed out on downloading those classes. People who had slower speed connections wanted more time but it wasn't given.

People have long memories.

imho, the press release and an email to all subscribers and purchasers should have been done concurrently and the website should have had a notice on the website at the same time. Re: Bluprint/Craftsy death

So one thing I discovered is that OBS Studio will record at a higher resolution than your computer display. So if you want to save it that way, it works.?

The sound flower plugin was the other one I mentioned, jacqui. I didn't actually say sound flower.?

The Zoom meeting idea is excellent for those who don't want to play with other stuff.

btw, I am planning on recording the classes I don't want to lose. I'll wait for whatever Bluprint?comes up with for the others but I don't trust them to come up with something. Recording them takes time as all these are real-time recordings. A 30 min class will take 30 mins unlike a download.?

For Mac devices, you also can do a screen recording using QuickTime. You do need to down load the free sound flower driver. Then you set your output as soundflower 64 instead of the computer. You won¡¯t be able to hear the audio while the movie is running, but it will be captured in the screen recording.

The last super easy, platform non-specific option would be to start a zoom meeting, turn off your video, hit record, share screen and select the crafty movie as the share, then start it playing. One nice thing about this is it will generate an integrated MP4 movie, and also an audio only track, for things that you are just as happy to listen to only.

Now, some Android users on Ravelry have reported that they can download and then connect the device to their computer and then can see the files and are able to move them to the computer. The files have names with numbers, but are .mp4 files.?

I only have IOS devices here so I can't tell you if that works. It is not possible on an IOS device. I tried various software programs yesterday and none worked.?

However, on my Mac, I am able to record the video as it is playing using the new screenshot manager in Mojave. I have not upgraded to Catalina yet. AND, the CEO of Bluprint?has posted on Twitter and apparently on their website that they are looking into solutions for those who purchased what they called 'forever' classes.?

Right now I have downloaded the classes that I want to keep onto my iPad and will investigate the options for recording. This will only give you the resolution that your computer display is capable of so you may not then be able to watch it on a larger TV/display without pixelation. So if they provide a download option,. that will be better as that is HD.?
