Re: Allavsoft Downloads Help!

Mary,
Shannon has a different?type of HD which is much faster. Also the speed over her connecting cable is faster -it is not the size of the cable but the speed of transfer. That is why hers worked to an external?HD.?

What I recommend is that you set up a folder and do a few classes?first. Move the files to another folder and delete?the temporary?files that the program creates, which are all the files?that don't have an .mp4 file type. Then do a larger number of classes. As you download them, archive them in your class library. Once?the process is working, you can download the rest of your library. It won't download archived classes.

The files are named 'class number - episode?number - title of episode?- class name' so they tend to get sorted together and you can easily identify them later.?

You have a lot of classes, right? Do 5 in a batch. You should be able to do 3-4 batches a day and you'll get them all done.

Mary,

I have a new SSD drive with usb3 so it is very fast. I¡¯ve had no issue writing directly to it.?

Changing everything like the ?default write-location in settings is a lot safer than just doing it on the download screen.?

I think the merge is only for F4f files, not mp4. But other video editing software like Camtasia could stitch them together. Like Jaya I prefer lesson-by-lesson because it¡¯s easier to navigate.?

The naming convention of the downloads makes it easy to copy them into folders because if you sort by name they will be grouped by class. You¡¯ll still have to create individual folders for each of them.?

The Merge folder might have to do with merging the classes. Why don¡¯t you experiment with it with one class? I found that the Merge folder had thumbnails for the episodes when they were downloading and once the .mp4 was created, they disappeared. I never saw anything in the Convert folder when I looked.

1.? I think the best approach is to delete everything in the Allavsoft download queue and the episodes I've saved.? Then I'll have a fresh slate on E drive and in the software.

Re: Bluprint/Craftsy death - Reassuring Update

Shannon,

I see that when you downloaded, that each lesson is its own video.? I've got a question about this.? If you've downloaded Anne Hansen's short rows class, each of her lessons are an individual video and then you must create a file for the class and move all of the episodes into that class file?? If that's the case, when you play the class back, do you have to go to the file each time to select an episode, rather then having the class run from beginning to end?

It also appears that when you designated the destination for the downloads, you designated an external drive and the software sent the downloaded videos to the external drive, is that correct?? So you didn't end up with a bunch of videos on your computer's C drive?

Sorry to bother you and everyone else with this, but I'm trying to nail down what's normal with the process.? I've read the article on the bag making website a few times now and the author mentions there have been issues with saving directly to an external drive and that on the download process page, it's normal to see individual episodes downloading (which I've seen, but they save as individual episodes too.)

Maybe the "Merge" option will fold all of the episodes together??
Any words of help are appreciated!

Mary.

Re: Bluprint/Craftsy death - Reassuring Update

Last night, after I posted, Allavsoft crashed 3 times when I was downloading the last class. And it didn't restart downloading when I reopened it. So I was glad I did it in small batches. I ended up downloading 3-4 classes?per batch.

I also learned a lot about Craftsy in the process. The class numbers go from 3 to 4 to 5 digits. A lot of my classes?are 3 and low 4 digit numbers and they?are some of the better - more in-depth and longer - classes I own. The couple?that had 5 digit numbers?were useful but shorter in length. But that is because, after that one horrible class that had 6 episodes of 15 mins each, I looked long and hard at episode?length and content before buying.

There?are a lot of temporary?files that are created?while?downloading and you can get rid of them after each class downloads.?

Who would want to take over Bluprint?... if it was given them for free??
Could be a huge opportunity for the right collective ...?
Trying to sell rather than "end" also explains why they kept selling subscriptions to the last day.

No. They?have specifically written code to block that. On an Android tablet, people have figured?out how to interrupt the download, find the file and move it to someplace else because there is a temporary storage location.

But otherwise no.?

I bought the Allavsoft license yesterday because apparently the customer support will fix the login issue for paid licensees. I've emailed them as noted in the article but have not heard?back yet. If I don't hear within a week, I am going to contest it via Paypal and my credit card.?

Interestingly, I noticed that one of my archived classes is gone forever. I had downloaded it when they?allowed us to download classes earlier after a big ruckus when they suddenly?no longer allowed it. But i had not downloaded the materials as I could do so at any time. i was downloading those yesterday when I discovered that the class was simply gone. Not the greatest class but still. I wonder?how many others are like that.

p.p.s. Rumor on Ravelry is that the Bluprint?classes are being rolled into Peacock TV due to some tweets made by Peacock that were?screenshotted but have been?now deleted. That may have been an option that they considered and rejected thereby closing it down, or it still may be part of the strategy. I am not at all inclined to believe conspiracy theories but thought I'd pass this on.

p.s. I should add that I don't grudge spending the $20 on buying the software. But given?my track record of things working, I don't want to try it till I hear from someone that it worked. Lots of things that people say worked for them aren't working for me and this one is a solution that no one has yet reported on saying it worked for them. That website is the only one cited.?

I believe Allavsoft was the way that people?downloaded stuff from Craftsy before Craftsy shut it down. I saw some older?posts about it when?I googled.?

It would be good if you tried it. I tried the free?version and it couldn't log me into Bluprint. Someone?said they paid and it worked. But given how many of those things didn't work for me, I'm reluctant to try it. I did find a video downloader that worked but the recorded video was awful - choppy and the audio?and video didn't match.?

The screen recording from the Mac OS screenshot app works beautifully. I get good quality video and sound. It is time consuming but I'm putting it on and doing other things as it records.

Frankly I want good quality or I'm not going to watch the videos again.

I am recording the classes I consider critical. It is time consuming but I'm not waiting for them to give me a download option. if they do, I'll download all the classes. But there are ones I don't want to lose

Anybody heard anything? ? I have 12 ¡°own forever¡± coupons for classes that I earned. ? I hope I get to choose them. ? ?. ? I should have a long time ago. ?

I keep hoping that someone will step in and buy the company and put it all back to the old Craftsy. ?
