Re: Pi-SDR IQ

Hi Matthew,

Over the years I was using the Yahoo! groups for all that, on softrock40 or the powersdr-iq group which I mainly post relevant information and had no issues.

Currently holding quite a few domains but never had the time or the urgency to use and work on them, in due time though the pi-sdr.com will be available for info to anyone interested.

Until then, powersdr-iq and softrock40 can be used I guess.

Of course, always anyone interested can contact me directly in sv1eia at yahoo dot com

Re: Why not Google Community

Yes they do.

For some reason, Google Groups has been less desirable for some groups I'm on. I am on a couple Google groups and they're OK. I don't know if they have the same files, photos, etc. features.

Any internet base for groups is probably subject to being gone some day, even Google. I've had several e-mail addresses in the past that were terminated when the hosting groups disappeared.

As an additional note, it's been some months now since Yahoo changed hands and nothing has happened yet.

Bogus? Well a month back we had the discussion on the list and hardly
anyone participated either, actually way less than 92 responded in any
way so the survey had a lot more responses.

So in your opinion is a not bogus way to discuss this issue?

Dear all,

?

After quite some prototypes and testing, its time to move on with a new breed of interfaces that will take advantage of the major leaps in embedded technology and add benefits to our SDR community.

?

These are the Pi-SDR range.

?

On this new breed, first we will have I/Q interfaces for Ensemble homebrew kits.

?

The new interfaces are designed to suit the specific SDR ADC/DAC needs of Softrock/Ensemble homemade rigs.

?

Also they are designed to work with a network connection giving versatile topology. That means the Pi-SDR IQ interface will just sit happily with your rig and only an Ethernet cable connection is required to your local network.

And of course have hassle-free operation, ready-made configuration with ease of setup.

?

There are two initial interfaces, the Pi-SDR IQ and the Pi-SDR IQ Plus, the first, a cost effective solution with CS4270 codec and the second with the top performing AK5394A/CS4344 combo.

?

Each, Pi-SDR IQ & Pi-SDR IQ Plus, will have an ADC/DAC board attached on a included SBC with a quad-core ARM A7 CPU running embedded Linux. They will be given as ready-made working combo packages.

?

Both, Pi-SDR IQ & Pi-SDR IQ Plus, will have all the necessary IQ Rx, IQ Tx, Headphones, Mic, CW, USB host, all jack/connections for the Softrock/Ensemble and ethernet port for connection to PowerSDR.

?

?

Their specifications

?

Pi SDR IQ??(CS4270) priced at 90 €

IQ ADC jack, 105 dB Dynamic Range/24bits/192KHz(128KHz linear)

IQ DAC jack, 105 dB Dynamic Range/24bits/192KHz

Stereo Headphones/Microphone jack

CW/Paddles jack

SBC ARM A7 QuadCore/1.53GHz/1GBRAM/100MBEth/USB2/HDMI

?

Pi SDR IQ Plus??(AK5394A/CS4344) priced at 160 €

IQ ADC jack, 123 dB Dynamic Range/24bits/192KHz

IQ DAC jack, 105 dB Dynamic Range/24bits/192KHz

Stereo Headphones/Microphone jack

CW/Paddles jack

SBC ARM A7 QuadCore/1.53GHz/1GBRAM/100MBEth/USB2/HDMI

?

Photos and info can be seen here

->?

?

?

For Windows users, these will be accompanied by a new PowerSDR application (based on v2.53) specific to utilize the new I/Q interfaces. Its operation will be transparent, just make the cable connections, start the application and you're up and running.

?

For Linux users, since there is an included quad-core SBC running Linux, they can have an experimentation environment and even the possibility to create a stand-alone rig with software of their choice.

?

The exact same IQ ADC/DAC boards can be connected if required to the Raspberry Pi 3, with a rewire configuration via SMD jumpers, as they share the same pinheader (RPi B+).

Raspberry Pi though will need additional audio mic dongle if it is used for TRx.

?

At works are also other rig types to be supported, eg. SDR1K, KX3, potentially any rig that has I/Q connections.

These new interfaces do bring a new way on how we use our homebrew rigs, and quite some work is needed in ironing-out the additional software.

Regarding delivery dates, pending on demand, dispatch is estimated a month after any order is received.

?

Whoever is interested can contact me in sv1eia at yahoo dot com.

Re: Pi-SDR IQ

Surprise, surprise. Another over-priced interface that provides no significant, real world performance increment over a $25 USB interface. This is the "monster cable" of the SDR world.

Your $90 or $160 is far better spent on antennas. But there is one born every minute.

And stay off my lawn..........

TX Audio Processor Software - Beta testers needed

While HDSDR is a very nice piece of SDR software and much thought and engineering talent has gone into providing us with this extremely useful tool, The TX audio chain is missing some useful features.

So for the past week or so I've been developing a new Windows application that provides:

Input and output device selection
Adjustable noise gate
Adjustable speech compression
3 band EQ
High and low cut filters
3 Re-nameable presets
400 - 1900 Hz Tuning signal
Input level meter
Input (mic gain) and output (drive level) controls

Here is what it looks like:

Image

If you can't see the screen shot, follow this link:

Before I release it for the general population, I'd like a few folks to try it out and provide some pre-release feedback. If you are interested, shoot me an Email WA2EUJ (AT) ARRL (DOT) NET and I'll get you setup to try it out. I only have one volunteer at this point and I need about 5. So if you run HDSDR and Windows, like voice modes?and have some to try this out, please contact me.

I plan to make a more comprehensive version with more EQ bands and voice keyer functions but it will work in conjunction with a new microphone interface that allows PTT and VOX keying and can be easily interfaced with commercially available ham radio microphones.

Cecil,

Vox Populi, Vox Dei! At least the popular vote supports the outcome alluded to by Tim¡ªq.v. recent events in The Americas.

Re: Move to groups.io Poll results

Hi All,

I also use text only in my E-mail client. I find it awful
to have to have to paste html pages into my browser although
I did it in this case and was able to provide my vote
(let the administrator decide)

The appropriate thing to me would have been to ask readers of
this list to make a posting with Subject = "vote" or something
where everybody could give his voice openly. Just press the
reply button and give your alternative A to D (or whatever.)

I can log in because I had to get an youtube ID in order to
be able to upload videos. If I would not have had that, I
would surely not have created an ID just in order to be able
to vote on the future of this list. Knowing there is now a
backup I do not think the issue is important. Information will
survive:-)

Leif

Because I don't do HTML based lists and frankly cant remember the credentials. Its all too much effort for too little result. I like my info pushed, not pulled.
