Re: Help needed.
Not an ICOM 7300 but many years ago I added a connection for a PCR100 radio by ICOM, tapping into the 10.7MHz IF, I used thincoax an a small board with a FET buffer so the radio not be affected by the capacitance of the coax, it worked well. I added that option so I could have a bandscope and have CW and SSB reception capability.

I recently found the radio and willhave up and running soon, I used it before to listen to local utilities/airport traffic, and ham 2M and 70CM repeaters. On 7/27/2017 11:49 AM, Paul Schumacher via Groups.Io wrote:

Group move.
So far nothing has happened with groups.io but back at Yahoo things are turning bizarre. Someone reset the count on the poll which any changes to the poll resets the numbers so it could have been an accident, some started voting again kinda reminds one of Brexit after the vote the ones that don't like the result want it to take place again, but even a higher rate of persons want to move so far.
This is getting old and I'm sure I am not the only one that wants things to settle down. One item that is interesting, in the last few days I sent messages and they have taken anywhere from 5 minutes to 23 hours to show up, your Yahoo dollars at work. -- Cecil - k5nwa |

Yahoo places some limits on the download amounts so they have to do it is small batches with 2 hour wait in-between the batches, but at least they allow the data to be downloaded. When I backed up the data it took me two days to get all 87,000 messages downloaded. On 7/26/2017 11:18 PM, Paul Schumacher via Groups.Io wrote:

Groups.io move status - long
A poll has been taken that lasted over 30 days, after the results the moderators that participated decided to move the Yahoo softrock40 group to this location. Below is the email I sent a few minutes ago to the Yahoo group.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After looking at the result of the voting and a discussion among the owners/moderators that participated in discussing the subject we came to an unanimous decision, we will be moving the Yahoo SoftRock40 group to groups.io. You will notice that groups.io is much faster than Yahoo when receiving or sending emails or reading the mail online. Some notes on the process. 1. Once started, the accounts, messages, photos, and files will be moved automatically. 2. Your email delivery settings will be retained. 3. Although the accounts will be transferred your password will not be transferred, one can reset the password easily without knowing the old password, it is recommended that you enter a password. If requesting a password change an email will be sent to your email account to finish the password change. 4. If one uses a filter to sort emails the email address on the filter will need changing. 5. Accounts that have bouncing emails (dead accounts) will not be transferred. 6. Sending of emails to the old group will be disabled after confirmation that the move has taken place. A notice will be posted on the old Yahoo group to the new location of the group. 7. All the current moderators will continue to be moderators at the new group site with several active moderators promoted to owners for the future safety/stability of the group. 8. You might want to start looking at the groups new home and become familiar but note that changes to the main page are bound to occur. < /g/softrock40 > 9. Groups.io will send several emails to the group when they begin and when they finish the migration. More details will be posted as the information is available but for the most part other than entering a password all other steps will be handled by groups.io. -- Cecil - k5nwa |

Re: Pi-SDR IQ
Hi Ken,
Pi-SDR IQ primary function is to be used as a peripheral on a Windows PC (old or new) that hosts the PowerSDR-IQ application. You can use Pi-SDR IQ with your really old good bargain used laptop. After all, its size with its box is a mere 3cm X 6cm X 9cm Networking, remote or stand alone operation or Raspberry Pi option are neat stuff that happens to be available to whoever wants to experiment with them. 73, Christos SV1EIA |

Re: Pi-SDR IQ
While improved performance in the lower hf bands will not be possible due to noise levels, I would be very happy to operate my equipment remotely...about time we hams embrace high speed networking at least for our own convince. All the legacy stuff at 300 to, gasp!, 1200 baud is a bit of an embarassment when talking to others who are into modern networking. My interest comes from being retired and traveling around away from home much more than when working. I keep looking at the pi's, bought one to try, but always find it a poor value when we can go to places like Goodwill and pickup a older windows laptop machine for $29. Yes it needs $10?for new batteries and $ 50 for a new disc drive with more capacity than a pi would ever hope to have but the keyboard, display, ethernet ,and sound card are all there...and performance and the ability to run Windows / linux programs. It would be nice to run my ?connected radios at home from the tablet I am typing this message on. Just need the last 6 foot interface from the radio to the network. With DDS any radio we have can have its frequency controlled from a distance..including my tube rigs ;<) I guess the point is do not give up on old windows machines for a fancy relatively expensive toy that is a step back in relative performance. A soft rock permanently attached to a retired computer is the best bang for the buck most people have available to themselves. Ken K1KLW On Jul 26, 2017 1:14 AM, "sv1eia@... Re: Pi-SDR IQ
Hi Leif,
I hope your recovery goes well. The Pi-SDR IQ as a concept in general focus mainly in the ease of configuration and operation. It opens up new possibilities for those who like versatility, networking, easily using PowerSDR-IQ, remote access, even a stand alone operation (with Linux) and all those neat to have things with a decent 105dB dynamic range. Effort is given to be tailored for the radio amateur use and everything is handled in that perspective. The Plus version does focus additionaly to the performance with 123dB dynamic range having the ADC choice of commercial SDR rigs, the AK5394A. So, there are many innovations here, ADC performance is only one of them. I'll contact you privately at a later time based on your availability for a sample evaluation when all is ready.
