Re: Older files were on GitHub, anyone want to verify what I've uploaded? #pcbgcode #thanks

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi Art,

Thanks for checking that out!

Happy Birthday!

That's quite a milestone. Must be all those years of living right, plus a liberal application of cutting fluid now and then :-)

Rest assured, if I move the group, you'll be coming along as admin. So far, no response other than yours. If I move the group, it probably won't be for a while, as I'm short on time.

Good to hear from you!
Keep making chips.

JJ,
Will do as soon as I can setup Eagle on my new machine. Had a crash and have to start all over again.? You know how that goes!

How often do you use pcb-gcode? #poll-notice

Just wondering how many people are using pcb-gcode, and how often. Feel free to reply if the poll doesn't cover your usage of it.

Thanks, JJ

Any interest in a new forum? #pcbgcode #development

I've been using other forums that run on . I think they are easier to navigate than groups.io (and Discord), as everything here seems to run together. I think I could set one up on Digital Ocean fairly easily. Not sure about migrating all accounts over, if/how email notifications would work, etc.

Open to input!

Thanks, JJ

I just uploaded what should be version 3.6.2.4 to GitHub, and would appreciate anyone who can verify that it works. I had some older files on there, 3.6.0.x.

I don't currently have anything set up to check it with, sadly, not even Eagle.

Thanks, JJ

Hi Bruce

?

Thanks very much for the reply.

?

It seems to be solved and something to do with the GND polygon. I deleted the polygon that was there- redid it and it was back to how I intended..

?

All very strange for a beginner. A simple board has taken me hours and hours to get this far. For me, Eagle is a very steep learning curve.

I believe you need to go into pcb-gcode-setup and tell it which layer to etch, top or bottom only.

Hi Guys

?

This is my first attempt at using Eagle and PCB_Gcode.

?

I have a very simple 12 keypad with smt resistor network.

?

All was going well and Eagle looks good with top layer as expected with tracks /pads/resistors etc. Bottom just had Key pads as expected. All looks good in Eagle Manufacturing with top/bottom layers as expected.

?

The first few runs ?of PCB_Gcode did as expected but now on the bottom layer I¡¯m getting an exact ?mirror of the top layer. I¡¯m getting the tracks etc instead of just the pads.

?

I¡¯ve checked and rechecked everything that I can think of to no avail.

It¡¯s almost certainly a newbie error!

java version #java

Can someone remind me what java I need to run the viewer.
Could not find docs on this.

I'm using Eagle 7.7 on OSX Big Sur. Eagle works fine and pcb-gcode
runs and generates files. just no viewer.

thanks

Re: milling out areas around traces? #pcbgcode #eagle #mill #etch

Peter Sanders

The answer is in the pcb-gcode-setup ulp.
See below
This is my setup for a 0.2mm milling tool (no chemical etching in my work). I set the minimum to less than the cutting tool diameter to ensure a clean finish.

So. 0.15mm minimum means that gaps down to 0.15mm will be milled.? ?1.2mm maximum means that multiple passes will be made until an area 1.2mm wide will be milled away from all traces.? Step size of 0.15mm means that each pass of the tool is 0.15mm further away from the traces than the previous pass.

I would be interested to know if anyone has figured out how to do this with a CNC UV laser/chemimilling? process.

#gcode Mach3 How to populate Tool Information in Tool Table #gcode

I am new to Mach 3 setup and commands and I have a question.. Is there a G-code command I can use to populate Tool Table in Mach3 in a way that every tool change the operator can see TOOL DIAMETER in the "TOOL INFORMATION" Panel of Mach 3 ??? I could not find anything about this

Bottom layer inverts Z-direction?? #2-layer #pcbgcode

Hi,

Thank you for this great plugin for Eagle :-) It works perfect in combination with my StepCraft CNC mill for pcb projects.

I have recently installed Eagle+pcbgcode on a new machine. Everything works just like on my older computer, but the etch file generated for the bottom layer, has inverted Z-axis direction..?
Meaning it drills holes upwards, and of course the drill breaks, as it makes the in-between movements downwards. The top layer etch are processed fine.

The workaround so far, is to invert the direction of all Z-axis movements. Meaning I flip the drill depth from 2 mm to -2 mm. The same for movements,, Z-up, spots ect.

My older version of Eagle+pcbgcode does not behave like this. The workaround is a bit annoying as I need to setup a lot of Z-parameters when generating two layer projects.

Has anybody experienced this issue? Can it be fixed? (Did I miss a setting for bottom layer?)

Best regards

/Christian

Re: Error Codes ?? #pcbgcode

Well it looks like the problem is something to do with M6 tool change codes !!
Had a look around and found this info about the M6 command not work in all
So i downloaded the ( grbl.pp ) file and put it into:
C:\Users\howar\Documents\EAGLE\external_usr-lang-prog\pcbgcode\profiles
so then i run the pcbgcode setup and select the grbl.pp file then tell it to use the drill
rack file (AUX SWITCH BOARD_TEST_3.drl) it makes the files for drill
i open the ( AUX SWITCH BOARD_TEST_3.top.drill.nc ) in Candle V 1.1.7
and run it in check mode which seemed to work ok !
then i try a live run and then it starts with errors one being? M00 ; INSTALL PROBE < error:9
whats all that about ?? what kind of probe ?? on my controll board there are 2pins marked PROBE
is this where to fit the probe ?

sorry about all these questions? am a newbie to all this Hardware \ Software
Thanks
Howard
