Re: NanoVNA firmware extended to 1500MHz with added scan command
Herb,
Here's what? the Japanese translates to: Conversation Abnormal person@kakuiwataBy the way, the model that is the base of the remodeling is a white model without a shield plate, which is said to be bad for the world and is sold the cheapest. It is unlikely that no shield plate will limit high-frequency performance. #nanoVNAQuote TweetAbnormal person@kakuiwata ¡¤ 9hMeasure 1090MHz SAW BPF with the modified #nanoVNA . If the frequency is low even at the 5th harmonic, it has reached a practical level. When this becomes 1350MHz, the feeling of difficulty increases at a stretch.7:04 PM ¡¤ Oct 7, 2019 ¡¤ TwitPanePlus On Mon, 7 Oct 2019 at 6:44 PM, hwalker<herbwalker2476@...> wrote: Thanks for the analysis Larry.? Re: Inflation of this forum
Hello - thank you for acknowledging start of this group (I started it in June 2019 having been an early adopter of nanovna, and have been pleased with the growth and extraordinarily high signal-to-noise ratio that the group's members have maintained - excellent!)
I wish to specifically thank KC0WJN (Dave as well) who has been serving as co-owner and been an experienced, invaluable guide as the group has grown. I am aware that the traffic level is high relative to some other groups, and some structural proposals have been floated from time to time. I have the following recommendations: 1. If you get single-message delivery and feel the traffic level is high, I urge you to consider using digest mode. You should receive 3-4 e-mails per day, and within these the messages are threaded. 2. The group's traffic is inherently not perfectly organized - there *will* be some duplication, threads that change mid-stream, and so on. This is OK and good - when you see duplication and feel it's important, quoting URL of a previous relevant thread will help those that are currently participating, as well as those that happen onto the archives in the future. 3. Consider trying the groups.io web interface if you're not currently using it (you can use the web interface alongside your e-mail client - that's what I do). Consider searching for topics of interest. Save or bookmark e-mails of particular interest. Thank you again for your participation in nanovna-users - keep contributing, keep learning, keep the signal-to-noise ratio high, and remember that nanovna and this group have helped bring capable RF vector network analysis solutions become accessible in ways not previously experienced. 73 Dave WB0GAZ |
Re: NanoVNA firmware extended to 1500MHz with added scan command
A number of posts back, regarding the charge/inverter circuit, I had suggested the use of this board:?
You could use this board in place of the built-in charger/inverter and supply more than 5v output to both the 3v Reg and the sa612's keeping in mind the max limits of everything.? BTW, Twitter does have a translation feature.? Are you able to post the Twitter link or just look for #nanovna? Please explain to me how hashtags would help?

That is very interesting.? I would like to get more detailed info.? I am not a twit though - so if anyone else gets more details please be sure to post them.

Thanks for the analysis Larry. I thought the modification would pique your interest. I was wondering what was going on with the port 0 coax cable replacement. Since photos were provided for 1090 MHz and 1350 MHz I was hoping the modification was wideband but the tuned length idea makes sense. Hopefully a full write-up will follow from the member. Re: NanoVNA parallel R measurement
Rp = (Rs^2 + Xs^2)/Rs
Xp = (Rs^2 + Xs^2)/Xs This is in the ARRL handbooks. Just have to keep an eye on the sign of the reactance. As W5DXP mentions, the impedance range is pretty limited. Above a few hundred ohms the errors get pretty excessive. For the high Z's I use old Gen Rad bridges. |

Re: NanoVNA firmware extended to 1500MHz with added scan command
Thanks Herb,
It looks like the mixers are being powered by a separate regulator, possibly at a slightly higher voltage for better s/n. The coax between port 0 and the reflection mixer is probably a tuned length for use at the test frequency, again to give a better s/n level. |
Re: NanoVNA firmware extended to 1500MHz with added scan command
Over on the Twitter universe, hashtag #nanovna, member kakuiwata has demonstrated a hardware modification to the NanoVNA (-H) which in conjunction with the current 1500 MHz firmware gives it 40 dB S21 dynamic range above 1 GHz. His comments are in Japanese so I haven't been able to decipher the nature of his modification (Twitter doesn't appear to use Google Translate). Photos of his modification (not for the faint of heart) and bandpass filter measurements are attached. Thought it might be of interest to some of us hardware types.

Sad to say, your comments are correct. Threads are being hi-jacked and it is very difficult to find desired information. Without a doubt, much good work has been done here. Larry he is not repeating himself he is editing his post. But he is doing it with the web interface of the group. You on the other side are using the email fonction of the group and every time in3elx edit his post you receive a new email of his edited post. That is why you see [Edited Message Follows] into his messages. hope this helps. Le lun. 7 oct. 2019 ¨¤ 15:09, <in3elx@...> a ¨¦crit :

Re: Annotated nanoVNA menu diagram
Hi Stan -
I think the latest one looks pretty nice.It is more compact, which may help on smaller screens. I think you're doing terrific for not being too familiar with the programming you're using.Anyone with time and Internet search can do it. And remember, there's no way to make everybody happy...My goal is minimizing unhappiness. VNA is conceptually pretty simple, IMO, but acronyms and esoteric naming provoke difficulties. Traditional menus obscure too much. Ideally, one could mouse with menu map: * hover briefly for hints * right-click for more help * left click to execute. .. but * CSS hover does not work for mobile devices - tested mouse with new iOS 13.. * right-click also seems doomed without JavaScript Another possibility is radio buttons to switch action for all map entry links between help and execute. |
