Update on my problems using CCC to back up to external hard drive. Earlier tried to erase external and it hung computer. Now went back and erased the partition drive. Did so quickly. Then erased the external drive. Did so quickly. Formatted as suggested. Now tried to backup using CCC to the external. Get message that it cannot do that as it has no Mac OS. I have used CCC for some years without a problem. Using disk utility I can’t find anything related to scheme. Bob

Howdy. GyazMail was updated to 64-bit a few days ago except several bugs found. Bug 1: Drag n Drop of an attachment to GyazMail icon on Toolbar or on Dock does not work. Bug 2: Download an attachment with right click and the Download Image command does not work. The same item can be downloaded by drag n drop to Finder window or Desktop. The Save Attachment command (right click) does work. Programmer/owner Goichi Hirakawa acknowledged bugs and says fix coming. Hi there. Testing out the new forum with an iPhone question. Since I updated my 10, I can’t find the undo function in Photos. This is particularly problematic in cropping. As soon as I select the crop function, Photos straightens the photo, even if I don’t want it to. But I can’t figure out how to undo it. Does anyone know? Thanks, Barb

I tried sending this via email, but for some reason it didn't go through. I'm sending now directly from groups.io Good morning all, Since updating both my iMac (2013) to Catalina, and my iPhone 7+ to 13.1.3 my Notes are not syncing as they use to. They still sync, but it’s extremely slow, sometimes not happening until overnight while my phone is plugged in charging. It doesn’t matter if I add/change a note on my phone or Mac, either way it’s extremely slow to sync. I rely on my Notes for everything, and I do mean everything! I have 171 notes. I have turned off syncing on my phone (Settings/Apple ID/iCloud/Notes), and on my Mac, and shut down both. This removed all my Notes and it took nearly an hour for them to re-appear on both devices.. Calendar has been having somewhat of the same issue with syncing, but not quite as bad. Any suggestions to speed up syncing would be greatly appreciated. Janet

I just discovered your site from a lively discussion regarding commercial VPN products at the new home of the macsupportcentral email listserv, groups.io (the previous host, Yahoo Groups, has apparently changed its business model, doing so without notifying group owners in advance, necessitating scrambles to new homes! Although there are many recommendations of your site in this discussion, one well-regarded member questions why you choose to be anonymous. I’m curious about the same thing. You may have abundantly appropriate reasons, and a comment on your FAQ page might increase the level of trust people give you, especially since so many commercial VPN products are nearly exact opposites of what they claim to be. I have two other suggestions: First, in your tables, freeze the leftmost column. My own html skills are limited to reading it, but I know it’s possible to do it, and the rest of your effort suggests you’d have no trouble doing so. It would make interpreting the data cells easier. Second, is there some way you could include data about how successful major sites are at harvesting various VPN services’ server IP addresses and subsequently blocking them (or perhaps more useful, how frequently they succumb to those efforts)? That’s the major limitation for me of my own occasionally used VPN service, NordVPN. Major players in the US, at least in the Apple-centric ecosystem (including Apple’s own iCloud mail service and the gloriously useful macintouch.com site block entry to incoming traffic that flows through NordVPN’s US servers. Hi, everyone. I'm struggling with creating a rule that moves messages from this group into a MacSupport folder I created in Outlook. i have a long list of working rules but this group brings a challenge for Outlook. Messages from the group arrive with two addresses: one from the poster and one from Sent by [email protected]. Outlook is not seeing the second address so it fails. Messages from users can have two forms: just the author's name, the author's name plus "via Groups,io". I can make a working rule for the second form using "group.io" Messages with just the author's name will require using that name since Outlook isn't seeing the Sent by address. Needless to say, creating a rule for every subscriber to the group is out of the question. Kindly share your thoughts and suggestions. Cheers Leigh

you think ink jet printers noisy and slow. In1991 I had my group’s color printer in my office. This was pre ink jets. It used multiple colored films which sequently would move forward over the page to the colored print. It cost about $ 1200 at the time. Very noisy and took long time to complete. It was linked remotely and others could print to it. Bob

My own printing needs are modest, testified to by the first appearance of a “low on toner” warning approximately two years after an enormous carton—containing a new Brother LW5200-DW printer—arrived. addressed to me, at the front desk of the hotel where I was refuged from the Tubbs Fire in Sonoma County in October 2017. Translation: I’ve never purchased a toner cartridge for it. Should I just call up Jeff Bezos and ask him to send the drone with a new cartridge suspended beneath it, or are there bargains in third party refilled cartridges that will serve me well for the next two years? I’m using it in the trial period and will probably continue. I’ve only found a couple of games I really enjoy, but it will be worth the $5 (I keep a discounted iTunes balance by buying gift cards when they’re on sale so my actual monthly cost is $4.25) just because the games in Arcade don’t have in-app purchases nor having to watch videos to progress in the game. I expect more games will be added over time. The trial period is for one month. Pat

I mentioned that groups.io mangles some from email addresses. Mine is showing as: Brent via Groups.Io" <whodo678@...> But I noticed that many here are not having that done to theirs. I think it might have to do with how I joined groups on yahoo. Could one of the admins or mods here look into that and correct it or tell me how? I would much appreciate it. Brent whodo678@...

Since upgrading to Catalina I have been unable to make a bootable clone using Super Duper, which I have used for years. Super Duper simply won’t creator copy the system patrician. Time machine copies it. Is this normal? Mackbook Air 6.2, 256 GB SSD, 4 GB, Catalina 10.15 Dick

I seem to have lost (or lost access to) all my Autotext entries. I’ve Googled and haven’t found any useful information so far. I’ve never had any trouble before, and I’m not sure if this happened right after an update or before (I know this isn’t very helpful). They’ve always worked no matter what template I'm using. I’ve checked the keystroke I assigned and it’s the same. I’ve tried to find them using the pull-down menu and only the Word standard Autotext entries are visible. I’ve tried a few other tests and found a few random Autotext entries by trying different templates but none of these make any sense. Does anyone have any clues, please? Where I might look? What I might try? I hope very much I don’t have to recreate all these. thanks Julie

Anybody in the group subscribing to Apple Arcade? What is your thoughts about it? Worth $4.99 a month? I like games but I don't play them much but the idea of Apple Arcade is interesting to me. Not sure I like it that you don't own the game. I play so infrequently that I'm undecided if it is worth it? Dave

Yes, I am using Apple's Mail.app v 5.3.(1283) for OS X 10.7.5. I had another list owner point me to a FAQ in groups.io's Help page say it is a issue with DMARC. Anyone got a fix?
