We invite all those with “No Email” the same way everyone else was invited. If and when they join they can set their email delivery to “No Email”. I can add an extra note to let them know that they can do that.

Sadly, probably only by creating an email?manually. Lot of work for the admins and mods.

Obviously, I am incorrect.

I am getting a LOT more from this group since it switched. I guess that when people had to do a real act to switch their accounts they thought, “Hey, I had forgotten about that group,” and the Email sent to switch reminded them.

I think that people who regularly use more than one email address can subscribe to the list from more than one of them, and set all BUT one of them to “No Email”.

Then it won’t matter which address they are sending from, all will be accepted, but they will still only receive 1 copy of postings.

I added the group name and address to Contacts and haven’t had a message go to Junk since.
Pat

I haven’t done that, but then, I’m not getting mis-characterized messages.

The first thing I did after joining a .io group was to go to (my mail ISP), log into Mail, and create a filter for the new group subscription.

So group messages are OUT of my Inbox and moved to my MacSupport mailbox even before they leave the Mail server and get to my computer.

If people who are set to no email are interacting with the forum at all, they are doing it on (presumably via web browser).

So they will see this discussion there and read in the discussion what to do.

The ones who are no-maj no email and no longer following us even on line won’t see it, won’t move to .io, and will vanish like dust in the wind when Yahoo goes away.

Somehow you are joined in the group twice:

Which one do you want? I’ll delete the other one.

That might be the case, if we saw more replies from digest. It is more likely the accounts using "no email" are the ones using the web site, on vacation, are dormant or dead email addys.

So others can do it for themselves.

- sign into your groups.io account
- click on Your Groups in upper tool bar
- on the line of the group you want to change, and click on the item under Delivery
- click on the Email Deliver format you want
- click on save

You can also reach this of this if you have it on the left column.

This also appears to be where you unsubscribe.

I can't see an easy way of getting totals for the different types of subscription. We lose ~? of our members by default?

About half were set to “No Email”. I counted them by sorting columns and filtering my numbers spreadsheet. It is possible that some people have just been lurkers and haven’t rejoined yet.

I think the issue is that web-only members who don't visit frequently will probably not be aware of what is happening. Is there a downside to inviting those? They still have?to pass moderation?if/when they first?post.

Otto

No. The email addresses are in the members list, along with delivery type, moderation status and join date.

Isn’t the critical blinspot in going nomail, that you won’t receive mail as a result?

?

On balance, why not a note on the site stating we’ve moved?

We will do that shortly. There will also be a Special Notice. As for those web-only, we still have their address in the members?list.?
