How to access a Memory Stick Pro

I've just come across an old Sandisk Memory Stick Pro MagicGate - see photo
?
?
IIRC it was for an old Sony video camera, long since defunct.? I have no idea what, if anything, is on the memory stick and I'm looking for a way to read it.? ?I looked for a suitable reader but failed miserably.? I found readers for Memory Stick Pro *Duo* but not for the non-duo version.? Does anyone have any suggestions, please, on how I might access the contents?

Hello Keith

I had no idea ¡¡ so I asked ChatGPT

Here¡¯s the answer! ?

I strongly suspect you¡¯ll bin the memory stick! ?

Warm regards,

David

Hi Keith,

It looks like your best bet is a Sony Vaio notebook. Do you have access to one?

Otto

No I don't, unfortunately, but it might be an interesting line of enquiry on the second (third, fourth, ...) hand market.
Thanks, Otto!

I hadn't thought to ask AI, thanks for that David.
Looking at the prices I suspect you may be right that binning it is the way to go.
I'll have a look on ebay and ask at a camera store I know.

Have you asked at camera websites?

Not yet, Bev, and thanks for the thought.
?
I found which was helpful.? I then spent a happy (?) hour or so looking at AliExpress where the prices were somewhat more affordable than ChatGPT had found - more €10 than €100.
?
I'm going to ask around locally and see whether I can find either an antique card reader or Sony device.

Found this, but I¡¯m not sure if the MS is the exact same type. Might be handy anyway, for all the other formats (Compact Flash doesn¡¯t seem so compact now, does it? ;-) ).

Search ebay for
"Memory Card Reader Mini 26-IN-1 USB 2.0 High Speed For CF xD SD MS SDHC¡±
if the link?doesn¡¯t work.

Thank you for looking, Otto.
The first one you found was the one I found on AliExpress and I think it will do the job - one of the cards in the picture is the right Memory Stick.? And at that price it's worth a punt.
The other two links you found match the Memory Stick *Duo* which is a later model and not the same as the non-duo version.

That¡¯s good to know. I¡¯ve found that, in general, (UK) ebay sellers will accept returns if the item isn¡¯t as described and, if required, ebay will step in.

It¡¯s not megabucks anyway, and the other connections might be useful.

(Years ago I thought Compact Flash was a ¡°standard¡± to settle on. Some years later I¡¯ve settled on ?SD as surely, they can¡¯t get any smaller!)
