That is pretty much true for ALL groups. The general rule of thumb is that 20% of the population will accomplish 80% of the work. That is true of churches, social clubs, political organizations, and probably internet groups.
I originally joined this group to find answers to questions about my new iMac. Mostly operational stuff. Then I kind of lurked awhile, gleaning information by reading ALL the posts. Then I would occasionally comment where I felt I had something useful to add to a discussion. The traffic on this forum has been somewhat heavy lately as the news of Catalina and the demise of Yahoo coincided. My other group (Allen Organ Owners) which is on Yahoo, hasn¡¯t mentioned anything about the demise of the Yahoo group. I¡¯ve reached out to several folks, but the group owner has moved on and is the only one able to get to the data needed to transfer to another host. It appears, if that group is to continue, then it will have to start from scratch on another host. It is a relatively small group compared to the Mac forum and just might not survive beyond Yahoo. I¡¯m sure that is probably true for some other Yahoo groups. I¡¯ve saved many messages from both groups and can email folks from those old posts to see if they are interested in rebuilding the forum. Said all of that to say this: You are correct in that we are paired down from the supposed 16k members. However, if there are enough members that WANT to be active, they will discuss the issue and solve it. Of course, several folks on MacSupportCentral were interested enough to make it happen. I¡¯m so grateful for that. If other folks are interested enough in the MacSupportCentral forum, they will find us. That is how I found MacSupportCentral to begin with. I did a search of Mac forums and picked this one as a likely culprit. I made a good choice. Thank you so much to everyone. I feel it a privilege to be here. And a portion of those on no-email may no longer be active eddys, email addresses. Many of those are the ones that don't read the list, and only come here to ask questions, without reading what has recently been posted. I find those irritating. I don't mind newbie questions, but do from long time members. If they are infrequent visitors to the list, they probably don't post much. So getting off moderation is not a real issue, they can lurk if they want. Many of those who have claimed to be lurkers, are what I call infrequent posters, but at least they seem to read or skim the posts to keep current. The Special Notice might cut down on the work I referred to for the admins and mods. I would post it now, so they have the 60 or so days before it disappears completely, when yahoo removes everything. Then what I would do if it were my list, is decide if I wanted to bother. The maybe deceased, moved on, or whatever. Then I would just send out a batch of emails at intervals to try and capture those over a period of time, not all at once.? Or is it a numbers game and bragging rights? We currently have 206 members signed up in Groups, but yahoo had 16k. If they are not even occasionally ?active, then do we really have 16k members. I know I have changed eddys in the past, did I close the old ones, I don't remember. Just my 2 cents, as along time member. I have also been an officer of several clubs, and there are a lot of hanger on-ers, and only a few active members who do all the heavy lifting. If there is a daily digest available, instead of receiving numerous e-mails? at various times during the day, would someone please walk me through? the process, so I might set it up for myself? It does seem that the FROM address and names are working more normally than the previous Yahoo groups. So far, I¡¯m pleased with this change. Sometimes change is a good thing.

I¡¯m curious about the same thing. You may have abundantly appropriate reasons, and a comment on your FAQ page might increase the level of trust people give you, especially since so many commercial VPN products are nearly exact opposites of what they claim to be. I¡¯m hoping this draws the attention of Randy Singer. Randy, you¡¯ve been a proponent of Brother printers for years on this list, and many of us are happy campers because of your advice.
My own printing needs are modest, testified to by the first appearance of a ¡°low on toner¡± warning approximately two years after an enormous carton¡ªcontaining a new Brother LW5200-DW printer¡ªarrived. addressed to me, at the front desk of the hotel where I was refuged from the Tubbs Fire in Sonoma County in October 2017. Translation: I¡¯ve never purchased a toner cartridge for it. Should I just call up Jeff Bezos and ask him to send the drone with a new cartridge suspended beneath it, or are there bargains in third party refilled cartridges that will serve me well for the next two years? Any body else¡¯s thoughts and experiences would be equally welcome, of course, Jim Robertson |

About half were set to ¡°No Email¡±. I counted them by sorting columns and filtering my numbers spreadsheet. It is possible that some people have just been lurkers and haven¡¯t rejoined yet.

So others can do it for themselves. - sign into your groups.io account - click on Your Groups in upper tool bar - on the line of the group you want to change, and click on the item under Delivery - click on the Email Deliver format you want - click on save You can also reach this of this if you have it on the left column.
