Re: Calendar can¡¯t count 4 weeks

Then tell me, how would you describe a 3 day or 5 day interval, if you call the others weekly, monthly and yearly?

The grammatical error of ¡°daily every 28¡± is just an expedience by the programmer. And is parsed by the human brain just as easily as ¡°weekly every 4¡±. At least it is a grammatical error in English, but is it, in say Spanish, French, German or other language?

English grammar is backwards from many languages of the world.

It is sometimes more difficult to create events on an iPhone, or at least to discover where the settings are hidden on an iPhone, but I was able to do this under iOS 17.6.1.

Selected day of week as Wednesday
Which resulted in every 4 weeks on a Wednesday.
I did the same, on a Mac, without selecting the day of the week, and it still put the repeat event on the same day of the week, because that is how every 4 weeks, or every 28 days, works.

It would help if you would list which device and OS version. Also, you didn¡¯t say how you created the repeat?

On my iPad, iPadOS 18.1, I used:
Repeat > Custom >

Every: 4 weeks
Selected day of week as Wednesday
Which resulted in every 4 weeks on a Wednesday.

OTOH, choosing:
Repeat > Every Month
Displays the event on the same day of the month (e.g., 15th), which will naturally result in a different number of weeks between each event.

Have you tried using every 28 days instead? I did a test event, and that seemed to work fine on my iPhone iOS 18.1.

iPadOS 18 Issues

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Well, I bit the bullet and upgraded my iPad to iPadOS 18.1, and iPhone to iOS 18.1. ?I¡¯ve had no issues whatsoever on my iPhone, but I encountered a couple problems on my iPad. ?

I thought that the Clock app¡¯s alarms had stopped playing. ?However, after some investigation, I discovered that somehow during the upgrade the volume got set to almost nothing in:
Settings > Sounds > Ringtone and Alerts

I encountered the following error with one of my accounts in Mail:

Cannot Get Mail

The connection to the server failed.

Server message "UID FETCH Server error - Please try again later".

Trying again later didn¡¯t help. ?Some online articles and discussions mentioned deleting the account and adding it back again. ?I did that, and after downloading all the messages again, everything appeared to be working okay again. ?That is until this morning, when the error started happening again ?. ?i don¡¯t want to continually have to delete the account and read it. ?I tried changing the following account setting:

Settings > Apps > Mail > Accounts >

? ? ?Under Fetch I changed Manual to Automatic?

The problem still persists, but now eventually the messages download to my inbox.

I reported the latter error to Apple Feedback.

Re: iphone 4k question...

bev, very helpful indeed...using quicktime movie inspector combined with the aspect ratio/resolution guide (below) i learned that the iphone video (.mov format) sent to my imac matches 4K UHD 16:9...however, per tod's advice i made sure that, while using the video in imovie, resolution was set at 4K when exporting the work...the export converts the movie to .mp4 format with resolution retained in 4K.

Bev¡¯s answer might be one reason you are seeing this. It does take longer for 4K versions to post at full resolution on both Youtube and Vimeo. You can use Get Info to check the final video before you upload to YouTube. You need to know if the problem is YouTube, or your prior workflow. Apple apps can be cavalier about changing resolution and recompressing. For instance, if you ¡°Export¡± from Photos, you need to explicitly select the resolution you want, or make sure you ¡°Export as unmodified original¡± which is a separate command.

I don¡¯t process anything on my Phone so if you are going direct from Phone to YouTube, I¡¯m not sure where it might be changing.?If you use Messages or Email to move files from phone to desktop, you will recompress by default. Use iCloud or Photos to transfer from phone to desktop.

Current versions of Photos will copy the original resolution if you drag and drop the video out of Photos, but older versions of iPhoto would recompress the original if you did this.

iMovie sets the project resolution based on the first clip that you drop in, so you must drop in your 4K clip first. You also must select 4K on export. It appears that iMovie will not export 4K 60fps yet. It will be 4K 30fps. This is unlikely to matter to you. 60fps only makes a difference in very specific circumstances and is more useful for creating slow-motion rather than as a finishing resolution.

You need to check every step. Use Get Info to check files along the way.
