Never mind, I’ve answered my own question. Last sentence of the article is, “The operation isn't warranty-voiding, but we're also certain that it's the first thing Apple is going to blame if something goes wrong with the computer.” I think that’s something to keep in mind also.

1. Not all my apps came from the App Store. 2. I have Settings set to update App Store apps, but MacUpdater usually gets to even those apps faster/sooner than macOS does. And what threw up a flag was didn’t the MacUpdate site get a bad rep, years ago for spreading malware?

Do you actually *need* color a lot?
If not, you can get a good Brother monochrome laser printer for $120. The occasional toner refill does not provide anywhere near the hassle of ink cartridges.

I’ve done this quite a few times, and used Migration assistant, Time machine backups, and new installations. ?The most consistent has been MA, although a couple of times it has been a failure, inexplicably running for a couple of days and copying next to nothing. ?I’ve had failures from TM, telling me a file could not be copied because it had an invalid filename. ?I assume there had been some change to how filenames are treated between OS versions.
?
One thing to consider if you are moving from a Mac you’ve had for a long time, is the opportunity to get rid of a lot of old rubbish, corrupt files, and stuff you don’t use any more, or at least won’t miss. ?It might take a little longer, but can be worth the effort. ?

Yes Migration assistant will ignore the previous versions of pages, numbers and keynote?
All your browser settings preferences are in your user library and will transfer straight away.?
I usually allow migration assistant to bring all the programs across and then - before launching any non apple ones, go to the website (such as zoom or Skype) and download the silicon version.?
You probably will have to install Rosetta - any non silicon version of the app will ask if you wish to install it when you attempt to launch it.?
I usually allow Time Machine to inherit the previous backups for continuity. So you should be able to use the same drives.?

When I move up and down messages in a message thread, organized by conversation, the message in the Preview window is not always the message highlighted in the list. This is not consistent, but most often it is one of my replies that is “stuck". I would also note that I am suspicious of the interlocking inset with the cooling blades. The blades seem like an unnecessary obstruction to airflow. The Mini and Studio vent from the bottom are designed to sit on a flat surface, unobstructed. Recessing this exhaust behind these blades adds obstruction. The fact that they look like cooling blades is very misleading as they will have the opposite effect, capturing heat and sending it up.?
That said, heat is not a big problem with these Macs and this probably makes no real world difference. Still it makes me suspicious of the overall design quality. ?

Looks like a knock off of this product from OWC, a brand with a strong reputation for quality. They've made versions of this for many years and they recently introduced a new Thunderbolt 4 version which I’ve purchased but not yet installed and tested. It also serves as a drive enclosure.

Looks like a nice product and a good solution to my M4 with two hubs dangling off to sides, taking up valuable space.?
I noticed that on Amazon there are several copies of the RayCue such as:

Reviews for any of them haven't been spectacular but there are also very few reviews.?
Delivery time for the Raycue is 1-2 weeks either through Amazon or direct. Delivery is shorter for the others.?
