The specific preference it is referring to is the Security and Privacy, Privacy, Microphone. Please check that toggle.
If its still not working correctly, I would simply download the newest version of Zoom and reinstall.

Hello, I am getting the attached error message when using Zoom on my Mac Air. Any suggestions? I have Zoom enabled in my settings, and my microphone is on and working fine.
