The items included in the ¡°Exclude¡± box are items that are NOT backed up.
If an external drive is used as a backup, it *should* be listed in the ¡°Exclude¡± box, because you don¡¯t want to backup a backup.

If the LaCie is listed to be excluded, then your computer will not try to backup that drive (this is what you want).
Sorry to keep going at this but Time Machine is still not doing a backup of ?my Macintosh Hard?Drive to the LaCie drive which is what I want.
If the Macintosh HD *is* listed to be excluded, then it won¡¯t be backed up.
You need to find ?way to remove it from the ¡°Exclude¡± list, grayed-out or not.
