My 2? here: Time Machine will write any file that is at all changed, leaving others alone. If you use something such as Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion, the ¡°volumes¡± seen by the emulator look to MacOS as simply very large files, so any time you make a change within the emulator program Time Machine will see it as a changed file and so write the 30 or whatever gigabyte file to the backup. In other words, do exclude those?
