Have you checked the preferences to make sure that there¡¯s not some condition not being met?

I got my wife a new Mac Mini and a hub containing an MVMe SSD that I set up as the Time Machine drive. This all about ten days ago. I checked today and found that the Time Machine is not backing up. In Time Machine settings it states: Next backup after disk is connected. However, the disk is on the desktop and also shows up in Disk Utility as Time Machine. I reformatted it and also ran First Aid.
Any idea as to how to proceed with this?
