I have a WD Elements SE HD which has failed.? The way it has failed leads me to suspect that it's the electronics (USB interface?) rather than the platter / mechanism which has failed.

Inside the case there appears to be a set of six contacts next to the USB socket.? Might these give some sort of low level access to the drive?

I know there are drives, does anyone know whether similar devices are available for WD drives?
